Some people are never happy
“Relax,” the wish ombudsman soothed, “Tell me what happened.” “This is the most lux capsule hotel in Tokyo and we charge over $1200 a night. Recently our rival hired a dwarf cellist. Half our clients moved overnight! We were hemorrhaging money! So…I resorted to a genie.” “So why call us? What went w...

Hearkens back to the good ol' days of Creature and At the End of the Hall, all pathos, no bathos.

But, Length-Nazi says it's way too short.
A twabble is exactly 100 characters, not counting spaces.
Sorry, ASiD, I didn't look carefully at the GUI.

Dead puppies, they told me, would stop premature ejaculation. It didn't work. Life is hard for a pedo-necro-zoophile.

Re: Nominations - Best Story
Creature for People's Choice 2011! Tightly written story, sorrow, joy, excellent reading and production. It's a total victory. Engaging, interesting, imagery is overwhelming, full of pathos, really a solid story (except for the Tourette's crabs). I know you shouldn't rate the story just based on it...

Creature for People's Choice 2011! I'm struggling between this one and Love in the Pneumatic Tube Era, but I figured I'd bring these stories to the front of people's minds in preparation for the People's Choice Contest. I figure there are a few real contenders Love in the Pneumatic Tube Era - I love...

Podcast readers: do you annotate your stories before reading
Hi, everyone, This question is for the podcast voice actors (is that the right term?). Once I had a girlfriend who wanted to read a short story for class and she marked up the book with pencil for cues for how she should be speaking. I was horrified, of course, to get a book back with penciled notes...

Re: MBDM 2012 - Aqua Heat
Look, with a dislocatable jaw and a tapeworm that can eat through spacetime, a granite-like shell isn't going to do shit for you. And cloaking ability? Useless against something that can detect your neuronal impulses. And, let's be fucking honest, isn't spicy tuna one of the root causes of tapeworm?...

Jabberwocktopus. Now with vorpal tentacles. Snicker-snack.snack.snack.snack.snack.snack.snack.snack. Ebolemur. So cute. So bleeding from every pore with contagion. Tossier . Re: 'Twas the Night
Anyways, a story book sounds awesome, but Gaiman's video went viral quick. I think this poem would translate awesomely with animation too. Oh, the guy I mentioned at first kinda dropped the project. I don't think he was into Lovecraft or really 'got it' is my guess. But if anyone knows anyone with ...

Re: 'Twas the Night
How much do I need to pay Bo to get him to do an illustrated kid's book version of this? s'good idea. I have my rates. Which are embarrassingly cheap. It would of course only be possible for a 2012 holiday release. But then what would be the point? Christmas 2012 occurs 4 days after the consensus E...

Re: The Drabblecast Primer (our 10 best episodes)
I'm glad to see that Creature got mentioned here. It didn't get much chatter in the forum. Barring the Tourette's crabs, I think this story was one of the best. The Last Question is a great choice for an accessible classic story (the list doesn't have any classics). Rangifer volans is brilliant for ...

What's the tally at? I dropped some change in the wrong hat, so I asked to have it shuffled around in back. Are we close?
Also, do you think you can toss in your 'Twas the Night' as a bonus track? It's not really music, but it's certainly fun (and it's set to music...).

Re: Drabblecast 221 - Year of the Rabbit
It's pretty rare that I come across stories that are written quite so tightly to evoke an atmosphere without a lot of spare words. I have to admit that An Owomoyela's stories I've heard in this and other podcasts haven't really done it for me (or maybe it's just that she's read for other podcasts......

Downloadable newsletter for non-native speakers/archivists
I started listening to Escape Pod and I noticed that they have a newsletter every few episodes (soundproof escape pod) that includes reprints of the stories. I introduced my girlfriend to Drabblecast, but sometimes she misses a few of the jokes because she's a non-native English speaker. I often hav...

Re: Drabblecast 216 - The Book of Eternity
I felt a bit let down after this story. What kind of had glimmerings of a humorous direction or the faint sparkles of a new vision of Faustian bargains turned into a formulaic template of 'proud, intelligent misanthropist seeks forbidden knowledge followed by obvious endings to ill-advised attempts ...

From today's South China Morning Post: Space agency looks to capture sun's power Scientists propose building a massive orbiting station to relay solar energy to the earth Stephen Chen Sep 03, 2011 Unfortunately I don't have the full text, but much of it was apparently in this previous abstract from ...
