Re: Drabblecast 241 - The Dead

I do enjoy a good zombie story, and this one certainly had an interesting concept. Reminded a lot of stories in which machines ultimately take the place of humans, especially in war settings, but even more disturbing since the zombies so closely resemble humans. Agreed with previous comments - appre...

Re: Going Public

Love it. Made me awkwardly snortgiggle in the middle of an airport, so I'd say this drabble has done its job.

Koala Convention

This was day two of the sixteenth annual Koalas of South East Queensland Convention, and all 312 attendees were in uproar. Hank, a visiting koala from Kangaroo Island, did little to calm them: “They’re taking over Australia! Our cuddly reputation is threatened, and we’re doing nothing, NOTHING, to s...

Why Questions (Couples and Parenting theme)

“Daddy, why is the sky blue?” “It just is, son, it just is.” “Daddy, why does peeling onions make you cry?” Adam’s father gazed up at the ceiling, asking for patience as his son entered round twenty-seven of those damned why questions. “It just does. Eat your dinner, son.” Adam looked down at his pl...

Little Sally (Zombies theme)

No street cred whatsoever. Who was ever going to take her seriously? It was bad enough, being barely four feet tall and slight of frame. But blonde ringlets in pigtails, a pink dress with flounces and ruffles, and white patent leather shoes with big shiny buckles…it was just embarrassing. Sally look...

Re: The somnambulist

Nice first post. Welcome. I don't know if this was your intention, but this got me thinking about the main character's experience. Does he remember and enjoy his dreams, or has he just learned to put his best foot forward in an uncontrollable situation? Is he lucid dreaming, aware that he's dreamin...

Re: Best Story! [vote here]

Episode #206 "Creature" did it for me. I lost count of how many times I have listened to it already. :D I completely agree - I liked all of these stories, especially The Demon and Followed, but Creature just had a little more magic than the rest. New to Drabblecast and catching up with back stories...

The somnambulist

Michael had not seen daylight for seventeen years. Why bother, he thought, unable to imagine life in garish sunlight. So Michael worked from home, blinds drawn to prevent any glimpse of day from entering. Today was no different. Come nightfall, Michael gleefully jumped up from his desk. He brushed h...
