Re: Welcome back but...
Now that the DrabbleMothership is reactivating, like some sort of audio Jerusalem artichoke, couldn't any donations that came in "after the fade was complete" just be returned? That might alleviate residual concerns from past donors and potential new donors. And help show that gfb there was another ...

Re: Drabblecast 289 – The Cold Equations
"Godwin constructed a deliberately impossible moral circumstance"
That's maybe where people differ - I really don't see it as setting up an "impossible" choice, due to the other ways the problem could have been solved (and like you said there are flaws in the plot and set-up).

Re: Drabblecast 298 – Flying On My Hatred of My Neighbor’s D
I loved this one. Such a simple 'what if' idea, and it completely wrong-foots the reader/listener as we go further in to the world of 'hate is good' 'really expert haters are people to be respected/envious of' And all down to a barking dog. If James Thurber wrote for the Drabblecast, he'd write a st...

Re: Drabblecast Website Suggestions
There's a bit of repetition in the elements and info on the page - 'Donate to the Drabblecast' box, with the one-off and monthly amounts, 'Support the Drabblecast' with info about BSides, and the $10 monthly amount, 'B-Sides' box, with a bit about the Bsides feed and the $10 monthly amount, 'B-sides...

Re: Drabblecast 289 – The Cold Equations
Or should we assume the author wrote this story just to push his personal agenda of stolid sexism in the 50's and also the wanton extermination of children. Well, you never know. Showtime were showing this documentary about this guy who works in the Miami Metro police department (with his sister) a...

Re: Drabblecast 289 – The Cold Equations
Haha, that's a little unfair I think. In fact, any time someone makes an assumption about an author's personal ideology or character based on a story they wrote I see it as unfortunate and reactive. Indeed it would be. Since I have no idea about Godwin's personal ideology or character, and was talk...

Re: Premium Content Ideas
How about giving subscribers snippets of up coming stories. Could be relatively short, like a paragraph or a sentence or two. Obviously in the age of t'internet it would be impossible to stop people Googling away to try to find the rest of the story but, then they'd be spoiling their own future stor...

Re: Drabblecast 289 – The Cold Equations
Well to maybe move the the thread in a bleaker direction - and partly since Norm posted that he expected this to be a controversial story, so.... blame him - this "story" is more about vicariously indulging the wish to kill than about writing a good tale. That's why there is such a poor effort made ...

Re: Drabblecast 289 – The Cold Equations
You can give 'those earlier days, when we knew not what we know now' too much leeway sometimes. In the story, there are ways that the stowaway could have been saved but, when the author isn't otherwise beating a dead horse to even further death by going on and on about how, "sadly, there is just no ...

Re: Premium Content Ideas
Interviews (audio or otherwise) with authors. Discussions of the ideas behind their story, discussions (and this would personally be my favourite bit) of what they changed in the story as it was being created: what they wanted to keep in at didn't work, other ways they'd thought about taking the sto...

Well then, if it's going to be so trouble-free..... you got me (and my $10 a month).
Are you happy now? Huh? Huhh??
Actually, now I get to play with sterling-to-dollar conversions on my calculator, so it's a win for all of us.

Will the username and password access work on other podcast software (I use Juice, which is enabled for password proctected feeds)?
Or has the new B-sides feed been set to be via itunes only?

Re: House of Leaves
Listening to the radio on my way back home tonight I realised that I was listening to scenes where people were talking about finding new rooms, corridors and spaces. It seemed more than a little familiar....... "Recordings Recovered from the House of Leaves" http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01694p2 ...

I had a thought: Would it be possible for there to be a 'final' episode put out on the old feed with a short message along the lines of "This is the final episode being Drabbled on this feed, as part of the site upgrade our feed has changed. If you enter [new feed url], you'll get all new episodes f...

Re: The Drabblecast Art Reclamation Project
I agree with not having a 'year/month/whatever' set of links on the side, especially since there is already a list of categories, the search box, etc. What I meant about the dates was, since when someone looks at the Drabblecast page there isn't anything (at least not that I can see) in with the inf...
