Re: Drabblecast 289 – The Cold Equations
- this "story" is more about vicariously indulging the wish to kill than about writing a good tale. it's more important for the author that we to get to the money shot where a child is killed. not because of its poor quality but because of what I think it implies about the author's motivations (to ...

Re: Drabblecast 298 – Flying On My Hatred of My Neighbor’s D
So yah, this was one of the best episodes of the year. This is the kind of thing I point people to when I say "Drabblecast".

That's why there is such a poor effort made to address any of the ...I can't call them 'plot holes' as that implies there actually is a plot. Re: Drabblecast 299 – The Revelation of Morgan Stern
So last week's story made me laugh out loud in public and this week's story made me cry in public. I guess the lesson here is to be mindful of where you decide to listen to the Drabblecast? :) This was such a beautiful story, the reveal was slow and the ending unexpected and somehow both touching an...

Re: Drabblecast 259 - The Last of the O-Forms
I'm really surprised some of these forum threads around this time are notably barren of comments. I'm pretty sure the Drabblecast story streak I've listened to this week happening in the "episode 50's" was the best I've consecutive stories I've heard anywhere in awhile. This one, along with Roanoke,...

Catching up. Have to say, this story is one of those that, to me, is in a class of its own. Stephen King wishes he could write a story like this. This is an author who clearly knows what she's doing and wow did she do it well here. very powerful, thank you Drabblecast and Esther Friesner for blowing...

YES! Cat Rambo knocks it out of the park with this one, so very wicked! Like her previous Drabblecast story, Amid the Words of War, Rambo demonstrates that she excels at dreaming up extremely interesting and alien worlds and characters and then injecting a great deal of human empathy into them and t...

I listened to this on my drive over Labor Day. Wow. So good. I'm not a huge fan of Lovecraft but this poetry cycle really showcases his unbelieveable skill with words. I was just entrapped the entire time, and Norm really makes these come alive in his reading. Bravo

Oh, also, "Knock" by Chris Thompson was one of the best drabbles this year. Made me want to try my hand at Drabbling.

Re: Drabblecast 294 – Partial Inventory
Well, aside from a few off-hand references this seemed (to me) barely a HPL mythos story. That is not to say I didn't enjoy it, because I did. I liked how the author chose to focus more on the characters, particularly Kelly, and her behavior in light of her family turmoil. Certainly the "family curs...

Re: Drabblecast 290 – The Screaming Door
Great reading, great story!
Tom, FWIW, my interpretation of the ending was that in burning the door the protagonist was releasing whatever mysterious element caused the door to scream out into the atmosphere to inhabit objects everywhere and fill the world with screaming things.

Re: Drabblecast 291 – The Lurking Fear
A little long getting to where it was going for my tastes but I had never heard this story and overall enjoyed it. Am I weird for actually enjoying a lot of that purple prose? Especially at the end when he was describing the evil bloated trees and such, drinking blood and corpses from the earth. Fun...

Well, aside from maybe the best dramatic performance in Drabblecast history. I'm caught up on 290 and can't remember better. Let us Praise Awesome Dinosaurs maybe.tbaker2500 wrote: I fast forwarded most of the story, and didn't really miss anything besides extra pathos.

Re: Drabblecast 285 – Doubleheader XIII
I'm surprised this episode isn't getting more chatter on the forums! It was one of my favorite Doubleheaders ever! I wish there had been an author's note from Mary, I would love to hear her thoughts on them. Locked In was absolutely terrifying, like others have said, because of the plausibility. The...

Yes, I'll never forget this episode. I've listened so many times I can't even recall. This was the first story on the Drabblecast that really floored me, it's just beautiful. I'm surprised it hasn't been published elsewhere, much less received major awards (aside from the Drabblecast's own prestigio...

lol tbaker.
This was a good time and sufficiently engaging/spooky. It wasn't as hard hitting as other Drabblecasts but that's totally fine.

Re: Drabblecast 289 – The Cold Equations
First of all, this was an outstanding production. I don't think I've ever heard better voice acting on any audio production I can recently remember. Sets a new bar for full cast audio IMO. Kudos to the guest producer, I see why Norm is a fan. Second, Algernon Sydney pretty much said everything I was...

That was such a good time!! I loved the format, like Amazon.com reviews. It really captured that perfectly. And wow what a cast! They really nailed it. Loved the guy who was using picobeasts to see if his wife was cheating on him. I was going to say that I wish it had developed into more of a story ...

Agree with both of you guys, I thought of the exact same two stories when I heard this again! This story was written before either of those however. Re: Bsides 06 - The Horror at Martin's Beach
Hi, I'm reading the complete works of H.P. Lovecraft on my Kindle Touch and I'm really loving it! I liked this story, it's about revenge for an uncalled damage, like the Cats of Ulthar. I just have a question, with so much time that they all had, why nobody came out with the idea of cutting the rop...
