Countryside Walk
I slowly walk across the field. Each footstep thoughtfully placed so I avoid the large cracks in the parched ground. Under my paws what remains of the dry grass crumbles into smaller fragments. Birds no longer fill the air with sweet song, or gracefully dance above my head. A forest runs right up to...
Nightmare
A cold coffee mug rests between my hands as I sit awkwardly at the kitchen table. Continuous attempts to blink away tiredness fail. Although I slept the dream exhausted me. It dug sharp talons into my mind, pulling me into a world I have not seen before. A world made vivid through lack of colour. Th...
Re: Gardening
Thank you for the lovely comments and sorry for the delay in replying - I spend a lot of time running around after my two lively children

Gardening
Working together we dig the new flowerbed in the pouring rain. Each drop stings as it hits my numb hands, the coldness seeping into my core. My best friend describes her vision, a rainbow of colour designed to cover eleven months. She turns each clod with gusto, her enthusiasm contagious. A line of ...

Night Time Wander
He gently prises the curtains apart hopeful that the sun is rising. Stars piercing through blackness are the only things that greet him. Thirst draws him to the top of the stairs. He hesitates. That bloody umbrella, the shape of it too human like. Thirst quenched he pauses at the bottom of the stair...
Blue
Sometimes they match the vivid blue of a cloudless summer sky. At the perfect angle the exact reflection of sky impossible to establish. Day to day the life they hold bursts through, proudly enhancing different emotions. Other times they match a stormy sea, a hint of green breaking through the surro...

Re: Trick of the Light (Halloween Theme)
This is brilliant. After such a good description that last line is perfect. I didn't predict the outcome as it all seemed so normal, had to read it again.
I wish this forum had huge gold stars that I could post!

Re: The Door
Thank you for the comments, it's lovely to meet you all
I will be adding more drabbles (I need a title for the latest one first) as they are fun to write, I hadn't though of the toilet idea but you are right it could have been that and it did make me laugh

Re: Windows of the Soul?
This one caught my attention, I love it. Made me squirm at the end

The Door
Large iron hinges hold the door as it moves effortlessly. The ornate handle no longer displays the gold coloured coating that once adorned it; endless hands wore that away a long time ago. Occasionally a queue forms. Humans wait patiently for their turn to take hold of the handle, the lack of light ...

Re: Drabblecast 338 - The Crevasse
Wow - why did I not know of these fantastic stories sooner?
I've got a lot of catch up listening to do. This was fantastic. I don't tend to pull things apart and give wordy reviews, I either enjoy it or give up - this one had me hooked so now I need to listen to more.
