Re: ??what's up?

I'm glad someone else is expressing concern, but it bothers me how few people seem to be worried about this. If you look in the drabble and twitfic forums you can see plenty of people submitting work as if they haven't noticed that the Drabblecast has disappeared. In fact the Drabblecast has been mi...

Re: A vacation?

Yeah I find it strange that there hasn't been any word on what's going on. I have been listening to the archives, and it seems when he was late in the past he was pretty forthcoming with the why. I actually started mixing up other podcasts with the archived episodes because I was scared of running o...

I'm a newbie myself, but welcome to the forums! Do you have a favorite episode?

A vacation?

I keep checking every sunday for the newest episode of the drabblecast, but it's been a few weeks now. I'm a relatively new subscriber so I don't know if this is a typical thing, but I've seen an episode released every week so far, or if not they double up the following week. Not that I am ungratefu...

Re: "How long are we talking?" [Category: First Time Posting]

The way I saw it, the name change couldn't detract from the story. Originally the character's name was Jack, and the story is functionally the same if you swap the names. The reference may go unrecognized and it doesn't hurt the meaning in any way if so. I considered it an economic value-add, econom...

Re: "How long are we talking?" [Category: First Time Posting]

Ah might be too obscure. The name Peaslee is borrowed from the protagonist in Lovecraft's The Shadow Out of Time. It's a titular pun since the character in my drabble is out of time.

Re: "How long are we talking?" [Category: First Time Posting]

Oh! I remember that one, it was funny. I'm pretty sure that was a drabble but the title might be different. Anyway I can see the similarities but I think mine is different enough to justify existing in the same space. You had me worried for a moment there, heh. Also just wanted to say that I really ...

Re: "How long are we talking?" [Category: First Time Posting]

Hey I appreciate that, Spare. I'm often told I worry too much and I'm afraid they might be right. It was the story I wanted to write when I first considered the notion of doing a drabble for the cast. Hopefully I'll have some more ideas I can shoehorn- I mean, delicately refine into a one hundred wo...

A bit of thanks

I notice this forum doesn't have a lot of threads, which may mean that only official threads may be posted here? If so my apologies and feel free to remove this. I've listened to all the Drabbleclassics thus far and I just wanted to mention that I appreciate this little side project of the Drabbleca...

Re: Classics 11 (EP 87) - The Box Born Wraith

Like the commentators after this Drabbleclassics episode, the digging coming from underneath was the high point for me. It is the stand out moment of this story, the part I always think about when I look back on it, and it's so strong I actually wonder whether or not ending the story there would hav...

Re: Drabblecast 178- The Tentacled Sky by Jay Lake

Thanks for "jealous". I was missing that one. I think they're variations on the seven deadly sins, which are usually listed as: wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony (from Wikipedia). J EALOU SY GL UTTON Y G REED M URDER Jealousy could be considered a synonym for envy. Not ...

Re: "How long are we talking?" [Category: First Time Posting]

Ah, I was worried that this concept might not be fresh, as it is a pretty obvious reflection of the 100 word limit. When I first thought about doing one of these the limit was this imposing thing, I got the impression of finality, and this was the natural result. I have heard the story "So you'...

Re: "How long are we talking?" [Category: First Time Posting]

I'm not sure the subtle Lovecraft reference is enough to put that in the category tag, and besides Lovecraft month is woefully over isn't it?

"How long are we talking?" [Category: First Time Posting]

"A hundred words," he answered solemnly. "Roughly." Peaslee hadn't expected the end so soon. And certainly not based on word count. It seemed... not so much cruel, as arbitrary. "Why would the creator stop there? Why would he decide to stop after the next hundred words?"...
