Re: Drabblecast 174- The Fantasy Jumper by Will McIntosh

Heh... I got Norm's 1,000th post as a reply. Fanboi score. Sorry, keep forgetting to put music in the notes. It's from Pickin on Petty. The Pickin On series rocks, also check out Pickin on Zeppelin  Norm - you should not just put the music in the notes, but include affiliate links for iTunes &...

Re: Drabblecast 174- The Fantasy Jumper by Will McIntosh

Maybe it says something about me... but I really liked Fantasy Jumper. I think it's a take on our obsession with the macabre. Slowing down to look at an accident. Watching NASCAR for the crashes. Cage Fighting. What if we took that to another illogical extreme, with memory booths, lie detector glass...

Re: Drabblecast 155- The Second Conquest of Earth by L.J. Daly

I know I'm late on my comments for this episode, but I have to say it was one of my favorites in a very, very long time. I enjoy my science fiction served up with a large plate of dread. The foreboding tone, the misplaced foreshadowing, and the way our hero used her skills to stay involved in her mo...

Re: Announcing the Weekly Tw(itter)-(Dr)abble Contest!

My understanding is that twabbles must be exactly 100 chars counting everything but whitespace (space, newline, linefeed, tab, nbsp, etc.). Ahh, I see I read the rules incorrectly. I was shooting for letters only. Refinements as follows: Mistaken Identity I complied with the request, to the farmer'...

Dinner Time

As night falls, the ground sighs with each shovel full I extract.
I had mourned my father well, but my children are now hungry.

Mistaken Identity

I complied with the request, much to the farmer's horror.
How could I know?
It’s only a carrot, and it DOES rhyme with masticate.

Re: Drabblecast 131- Storm Comes A' Callin’ by Jeremiah Tolbert

Maybe it's because I punched a hole in my finger with a nail gun on Sunday, then proceeded to go chop wood with an axe until I needed surgery (click for a photo if you're into that kind of thing, sicko)... maybe that's why this story really got to me. I even broke the handle that day, and will need ...

Re: Drabblecast 129- Annabelle's Alphabet by Tim Pratt

To me, this story was all about the mood - the fact that we flat out knew where it was going before we were half way through the alphabet - made it something to just lay back in and just be . I live in the woods, and could picture Annabelle playing near me as I listened. As for the drabble, this one...

Enjoyable, but fairly light. I felt the hook could have been set better; I would have liked to have felt a little more apprehension when Mother began feeling for the button...
