Re: Drabblecast Director’s cut

In the discussion about Charlie the Purple Giraffe, the composer Carl Stalling is mentioned. I suspect that many people have never heard of him. To most people his name is obscure but his work is anything but. As it turns out I recently watched a YouTube video that discusses Stalling. Here's a link ...

Re: Cosmic Horror

No, this is not inspired by Charlie the Purple Giraffe Was Acting Strangely. I'm listening to the Relaunch Prelaunch now and yeah, in a sense there's a lot of overlap.

Cosmic Horror

The Buddha said, "You've come to ask me the secrets of life and the universe. How do I know? You've come many times before. Our world dies and is reborn as regularly as the moon follows the sun. I alone remember. Existence is a cosmic horror. We live to fight. We die only to be reborn, forever trapp...

Re: Post your Twitfic Twabbles Here! (General Content)

Words have meanings and meanings are important. It's not good enough to just tell robot slaves "Create a better world."

In Moscow university I study Tolstoy. No good they say. Must master twit-fic for job to write American political memes.

A followup from an article I'm reading: " Memes are all attempting to self-replicate by exploiting inconsistencies or weaknesses in our cultural code. They are not attacking one another; they are attacking us humans. " http://www.iftf.org/fileadmin/user_upload/images/DigIntel/SR-2002_IFTF_Biology_of...

It would be so much better if this web forum software had a "thumbs up" button.

But thumbs up.

The Things in the Lake

Living in the country isn't like the city. Humanity invented cities. In nature things are shaped by other forces. When we bought our Texas ranch, rather than trying to reinvent things we tried to coexist with what was already there. The ranch has a lake and we think that there's things in the lake. ...

The End of Everything

Years ago I wrote in the drabblcast forums "It's just so difficult constantly trying to come up with new and innovative ways to destroy the world, or better yet, all of existance." It was true then and it's true now. Destroying the world is a hobby of mine. The challenge is to do so creatively. Ther...

Re: Still alive?

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it's burnout. Norm and the DC crew put a tremendous amount of effort in and I'm sure it was a constant struggle to stay above water.

But the fact that there's been no official shutdown is a good thing. It leaves open the possibility of future stories.

Modern Problems

My mom's always nagging me. "Pick up your things." she says. "Take out the garbage. Clean up after yourself." I wish she'd just leave me alone. But do you know what really gets me? It's when gets into her whiny "You're grown up now. Your father was your age when we married. Why don't you find a nice...

The Blossom

A trillion tiny lightsails are carried off into the void. Within each is the DNA of a billion different species. It's a bit like a blossom's pollen being carried to the winds. When we were younger we arrogantly believed that the stars are our destiny. But the universe doesn't favor a single life for...

A once vibrant community is now quiet. I return to empty hallways and dusty rooms. Yet I must post, for I'm almost at 1000.
