Re: Courtroom 13 Tuesday, November 30 3:43 p.m.

I and my wife thank you for your positive feedback. She likes the idea of turning it into some form of short video - I think we'll see if our son is interested in doing something along those lines. Question for one and all: given that this is a multi-part drabble, should I have simply posted all fiv...

Courtroom 13 Tuesday, November 30 3:43 p.m.

She couldn’t believe she was free. All those years. All her siblings. So many that when she turned ten, she stopped counting the new ones. She’d been so hungry. The foster home was wonderful. Real food, not just thin broth. And bread! Oh my gosh the bread! With real butter! It would be a long time, ...

Courtroom 13 Tuesday, November 30 10:00 a.m.

The judge stared at the little old lady, standing firm and defiant before him. “You’ve been found guilty of child abuse. This is the sentencing portion of your trial.” the judge said. The little old lady just stared at him, eyes boring holes through his soul.  “You will be subject to the same treatm...

Prosecutors Office Monday, November 15

The report from Doc Marten said the children were malnourished and had injuries in all stages of healing. These children had suffered for a long, long time. They still hadn’t gotten an accurate count of the children. When they tried, one was missing or a new one showed up. DA Stiletto put the report...

Shoebox Neighborhood #4 Laces Lane Thursday September 9

Officer Treadway and social worker Penny Loafer trudged up the walk. A thin, dirty face peer out of a window before the curtain dropped back. A little old lady answered the knock, a soup ladle in her hand. The interior was a filthy. Dirty bowls, some half-filled with a brownish, foul-smelling liquid...

Shoebox Neighborhood #2 Laces Lane Wednesday September 8

“Did you see her this morning?” the little Dutch boy asked. His dogs were in a frenzy as they stood outside the flat with the cats. “I didn’t,” replied the woman who lived with the felines, “but I heard it. Such a pity.” “Yes,” he replied. “Something has to be done.” He lived in the clog with his do...

What are these charges? I did not eat that! I go to the hotel manager and demand an accounting. He tries to dispute me, but I’m firm. I did not eat your candy bar. I did not drink your beer. I did not chew your bubble gum Or watch the movie Cape Fear I demand you fix my bill. I demand it here and no...

Re: Post your Twitfic Twabbles Here! (General Content)

Yes, I am a yank. I inadvertently accepted the spell-check replacement for 'realized' when I submitted to the forum. I did recalculate the character count and realize I've come up short by 1 character. My character count algorithm incorrectly counted an embedded newline I had in my file. I've since ...

Re: char count shell script

As is so often the case, there are many ways of achieving the same results. I like to minimize the number of commands strung together. Since tr will accept a set of characters as the parameter, I include both the space and the newline in a single tr , thereby eliminating the need for sed or multiple...

Re: Classified Ad

Interesting. Love the concept. The change in perspective from third-person 'he' to first-person 'I' was a bit off-putting though.
