Re: Drabblecast 194 - A Distant Sound of Hammers
Loved the story. Enlightened zombies, human farming, cannibalism, what more could a girl want? I do agree with Franklin in that parts of it seemed to be rushed, but the rest of the story makes up for that one shortcoming. Kate Baker is phenomenal, mostly in that her voice and reading style don't dis...

Haven't made it through this whole episode yet, but after listening to Frank Key's Goat God Catechism (and drinking a bottle of wine) I believe I've converted to the religion of the Goat God. Or the religion of Frank Key. Or both. I love how he repeatedly refers to the "regime" in his works. Fight t...

As an extra goody in the show, how about an autotuned amalgamation of highlights from Drabblecasts past?

Another outstanding episode. Delianne Forget is elbowing Steve Eley out of the number two position in my top 10 list of audiofiction voices for her amazing ability to become each character she plays. Though it was not just Delianne that made this episode great--as always, excellent production, and g...

Thanks Strawman. I loved this story so much that, even knowing how much he hates audiofiction, I made my husband listen to it (I'm hoping that with time he'll learn to train his ear and his brain to follow along with the storytelling). And this story is right up his alley, too. But alas, he hated it...

Re: Drabblecast 179- The Red Bride by Samantha Henderson
One word: Wow. More words, in support of the one word above: Fully describing any monster or situation almost always kills the terror for me. This is probably why I loved this story more than anything from HP Lovecraft month. If the narrator had more time, I'm sure she could have fully described the...

Re: Drabblecast 178- The Tentacled Sky by Jay Lake
"why use two words when 15 will do" Perfect description of HP Lovecraft, in my opinion. The whole gender-switcharoo at the end got me pretty confused as to how I came to the conclusion that the narrator was male to begin with. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to realize that it was because ...

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the cake--it was getting kind of, well, I won't say "old", we'll call it "mature", since I had to make it a couple days before Dragon*con. And no, it wasn't bacon flavored. Sadly they have yet to make vegan bacon extract. Next time I'm sure I can encorporate vegan "Smart Ba...

I really wish I could go, but vet school is kicking my butt and I really can't justify getting away for a weekend. As a token of my appreciation for the podcast, though, I'm having a friend deliver a Drabblecast cake to the lunch. I hope coconut and octopus is okay with everyone. :) Y'all have fun!

Re: Drabblecast 176- Cinderlands by Tim Pratt
As much as my husband would hate to hear me say it, I'm just not a Lovecraft kind of gal. I like the idea of HP, but not so much the writing. My attention span isn't quite long enough, and vocabulary much too small. I thought that Tim Pratt taking on the Lovecraftian would keep HP's famous sense of ...

Every time I listen to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and Carl Kassell offers to record someone's voice mail message as a prize I think... I wish Norm Sherman would offer that same service. Maybe as a gift for a donation. I know I'd love it.

Re: Drabblecast 169- The Reenactment by Ben H. Winters
Maybe I'm gullible, but I found myself right there with Mr. Stanly in believing that he could actually be Alexander Hamilton, and that's what made the story so fun. This is the Drabblecast Universe, after all, so it is entirely possible that a high school history teacher ends up being the reincarnat...

Re: Drabblecast 164- The Observer by Kristine Kathryn Rusch
Just wanted to say how much I absolutely loved this story, especially how the author told the story without actually, you know, telling a story. It was more of the equivalent of painting a picture than playing a movie and the style spared the audience all (well, most of) the gory details of combat/w...
