Re: Buried

I get 100 off that? Unless it's already post edit.

I like it :)

Re: Standards

It brought to mind a harmless and slightly ditzy old lady. Till you reminded me of pantomime at least. In the former the last line sounded a little disjointed, in light of it it hangs together better i think.

Re: 2012 People's Choice : Best Drabble : Nominations

And another tricky choice, this time in reverse chronological order because I decided to scroll up rather than down. 270 - The Politics of Time Travel by David Medus 269 - Aversion Therapy by Nathan Lee 266 - Visitation Rights by Lewis Davies 262 - Trolling by Jeff Johnston 240 - How to Deal by Chri...

Re: 2012 People's Choice : Best Cover : Nominations

Well, here are my nominations after much anguish, in chronological rather than favourite order though. I can't manage favourite yet. 234 - Jagganath by Bill Halliar 238 - From the Lost Diary of TreeFrog7 by Caroline Parkinson 247 - How I Crippled a World for Just 0.01 Cents by Bo Kaier 255 - The Wre...

Re: Drabblecast 271 – Trifecta XXIV

I enjoyed Spidersong (actually I enjoyed all of them, but especially Spidersong), although did anyone else get the impression these kids were simply being farmed rather than sharing a deeper connection with the spiders? Perhaps I'm just anti-spider.

This seems almost like a wee ditty. Every time I read it I want to insert and in the second sentence to keep the meter.

Hmm it clicked for me first time though, although I agree 'Bingo' would probably be better than 'Crap'. I enjoyed it :)

Re: Occupied Space

Indeed it is. Although actually this was about magicians and polar bears originally, in a roundabout kind of way. I have this really fun childrens book where if you read from one end its about a little girl who goes to the park, and her blanket turns into a giant white bear to protect her from an ev...

"Yeah! Kill Him" I screamed with the mob. "Kill the body-snatcher!" "What have you done with my husband you monster!" yelled his wife near the front of the crowd as she beat her fists against the shackled creature. Several of the stronger townsmen had taken control of the prisoner and were dragging ...

Re: Post your Twitfic Twabbles Here! (General Content)

You mean you hadn't realized a variation was already posted? And yes, it was appropriate to Lovecraft Month. I just didn't want a pattern of repostings to get started (at least not in this thread). Although something like "I posted a variation of this here (give link). This is an improved version."...

On the subject of Lovecraft I hosted the Cult of Dagon meeting this week. Unfortunately the sashimi snacks my wife prepared didn't go down too well. Nice. :D No, not nice. This is a reposting of an earlier twabble . Lots of extremely good twabbles (not saying I'm fond of this one) get overlooked fo...

Rob hurried through the staff room door. "Sorry I'm late, I must've missed the memo." Thirteen cowled heads turned to stare at him. One, the headmaster he recognised, stepped out of the circle and walked over to him. "Um, am I missing something here?" muttered Rob, confused. "This is a private meeti...

And he's usually right about these things [Apocalypse Blues]

When John went to bed everything was fine. When he woke up, it was not. The sky choked on thick, black clouds of oily smoke. The air hung heavy with the stench of burning flesh. Fires raged throughout the city, their guttering light clawing at the jutting skeletons of half-destroyed skyscrapers. He ...

An Industrial Christmas

St. Nick sighed as he examined this year’s list of demands - gone were the days of toy soldiers and rocking horses. Now it was all hi-tech gadgets and all those microchips took an age to manufacture by hand. Last year he'd even had to buy some items in to meet the deadline can you believe it! But th...
