Horror Stories of Thomas Ligotti
Howdy, I ran across a weird fiction and horror writer whom I don't recall ever being mentioned on the Drabblecast -- I see only one comment in the forums that mentions him -- so I thought the denizens of the forum, or even the main podcast, might like to check out his work. He is Thomas Ligotti: Wik...

Re: Still alive?
Same here. I only get to check the podcast intermittently, I binge and download a dozen episodes every month or two. So it got all the way here to July before I noticed there's been no podcast since May. Hope the asylum is still above water!! If ***gods forfend*** the main podcast stops, hopefully o...

The warriors fought hordes of screeching, feathered women. "This is the last time I come to this bar during harpy hour."

PayPal cancelled my subscription without notifying me
Something weird happened with my PayPal and you might possibly want to alert listener/subscribers about this. I was signed up for $10/month to receive B-Sides access. At some point last spring, my bank sent me a new credit card, with a letter saying "this is not because of any known security breach ...

Apologies. Got the message.
Re: Clickjack
I hear you can eliminate this problem by using the Dvorak keyboard, because most spirits & specters don't wish to be bothered making the switch.
Well done! "Fear is what the prey can catch" is a superb piece of writing in just seven words!

Excellent question, 'cat! I don't think the answer is known. Most field cryptozoologists tend to leave their Dignitometers behind in the lab. Something about their profession bollixes the readings.

Re: Already Here
Nice one! I have often thought of stories along these lines -- the aliens are among us and we didn't know it -- and I like similarly themed works. This one celebrates the tension and nervousness of uncertainty, with those last couple of lines. I personally enjoy (most of the time, I enjoy) a story w...

Hey Scattercat, as you may have figured out, my latest Drabble "The Beer Wolf" is the wolf-themed drabble which I referred to here, 6 months ago: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5543

Re: Happy Birthday!
Greeting card is a great idea! A friend of mine wrote a poem once about how time speeds up as you get older. I'm not sure I can find a copy but I remember his last line was, "I'm content to sit at home and watch the snails race by." Kind-of the opposite take on Varda's imagery. Interesting how two d...

Re: Aliens Theme: Yesterday
I haven't read Cwpants writing before, I'm a longtime listener, but only sporadic Forum participant. This poem was nicely written and fun to read. I've often wondered if my true love is waiting for me out there on Achernar VIII. And then the image of love dissolving into unity makes a great conclusi...

Re: The Beer Wolf (Cryptozoology theme)
Glad somebody "got it"! One of my drinking buddies coined the phrase, when you wake up with unexplained bruises the next day. I just thought it would be funny to write up the concept in a taxonomic textbook style. Hey Drabblecast gurus, let's have another Cryptozoology episode!

The Beer Wolf
The "Beer Wolf" ( Lobo fermentibulus ), originating from northern Europe, like other human-associated scavengers is now ubiquitous, living at the fringes of human settlements across the globe. Stealthy and shrewd, this small quadruped only selects prey whose perceptions and defenses have been dulled...

I Got Drunk with a Time-Travelling Pirate on Valentine's Day
Is it possible to "draft" somebody into the Drabblecast against their will? I followed this guy's blog for years for his political commentary. I haven't contacted him. I have no idea if he ever listens to podcasts or knows the Drabblecast exists. But when I think of Valentine's day and the Drabbleca...

So Norm has a "thing" about parasites, but will he ever graduate to the really cool stuff... hyperparasites? Parasites that prey upon parasites? http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3/podcasts.howstuffworks.com/hsw/podcasts/sciencelab/2013-11-14-stbym-hyperparasite.mp3 I imagine you guys check this...

Re: Drabble: “On the Beach” (Journals Theme)
strawman: indeed, then you may enjoy reading the Archdruid and other bloggers in that vein... it was pretty interesting and amusing in that "Ten Billion Years" article I cited above, when David Brin logged onto the Archdruid's comment board and denounced the whole point of view. Pass the popcorn.
