Re: Politico Beasts - Round 3 (The Finals)

Wow. This is a tough one. Love the descriptions, BTW. Question: Are performance enhancing drugs a factor here? Cause Limbaugh could be near-impervious to pain that way, and Obama might think he's back at the tiki bar in Oahu, completely cool and confident and laid-back, dude. That could be a factor.

Re: Politico Beasts - Round 2

Great art, as always. I have to hand this one to Killary Skinsmen. She's got killer instincts the likes of which Skarah Praylin is simply no match for.

Re: Politico Beasts - Round 1

Why is this even being debated? This is Gore we're talking about. If Cheney disagrees with him, Gore will simply refuse to show up.

Re: Norm + Escapepod=

Norm, good for you for being a frequent cohost over there. I find yours and Rick's productions to be some of the best in the business (though I am a sucker for WTT as well)* *This post does reflect my bias towards the markets who have had the brass tacks to try my fiction on their 'feeds, but should...

Hey SS, I'll jot you up an origin story for any number of the competitors you'd like. Just get me their art in advance @ jonathancg@gmail.com and I'll churn away.

Probably no more than a few paragraphs, tops, per competitor. Call it my free contribution to the violence :)

Chainsaw? Not really. Being someone with some experience in this area, I can tell you that a chainsaw is not the most efficient way to decapitate a human body. Even a powerful chainsaw will actually take a few seconds to completely cut through the spine, muscles and tough connective tissue. Not to ...

You know, to me the most gripping segment of "The Matrix" doesn't even get depicted in the films themselves; rather it's seen in the underrated collection "The Animatrix". "The Second Renaissance", to me, represents an end-game scenario with AI vastly more terrifying than anything in the Terminator ...

The same. And the vampire fish...isn't that the name for the fish in the Amazon that believes the happiest place in the world is a snug fit in the male urethra?

In honor of the Nigerian opportunities presented here on a regular basis, one of the titles should reference that, like "Kindest Sir" or something like that.

Some other ideas:

Vampire Fish
Happy Tadpole
Tower Architect
Little Brother(tm)
Singularity
Hubble Pimp

Loved this little tale. The hook at the end does that rare thing in science fiction -- a twist that isn't obnoxious. The story would stand on its own merit without it, so this was just icing on the cake.

Yeah, after Norm's mutant sea turtle bit, it'd be a cry in shame if we don't have one somewhere in the lineup.

By the way, am I the only one getting images of Slash from the old TMNT when we mention that concept?

Norm, it's a darn shame you guys didn't make finalist, but it. Will. Happen. I am sure at some point. You guys are putting out too much quality. On a related note: I'm a finalist! Holy crap-- I had no clue! Congrats to my fellow finalists! Now I've get to get gussied up for that ceremony that night ...

Oh. Hell. Yes. So glad to see this coming back. Some concepts: Murderpede: A giant millipede about twelve feet long and a foot around with cutting blades or other nasty implements like scissors and butcher knives for each leg, with armored, segmented sections. Destroying segments won't help because ...

Wow

This one was a real mindbender, and I enjoyed it. I think the tale is definitely creepy. The loss of control is actually more terrifying to the human psyche than death itself. In this tale, we are allowed our lives but no control over them, a fate most of us would call worse than death. Even the Bib...
