Re: Drabblecast 163- Once a Month on a Sunday by Ian McHugh
I hadn't read the other comments when I made mine. Interesting. It never would have occurred to me -not- to suspend disbelief in this story. It's not a Pan's Labyrinth type of story or even magical realism. It's a true alt universe, with religions subtlety different than our own (though they may hav...

Re: Drabblecast 163- Once a Month on a Sunday by Ian McHugh
I've been away for a while and I'm catching up on the last 3 episodes. I gotta come by and comment on this story. Wonderful. As in "full of wonder." It was like Alice in Wonderland meets the Jaberwalkie, but with a coherent plot and knowable characters. I want the rest of the story, Mr. McHugh. Seri...

So, seriously Norm, how do you have time for this? You're going to be doing 2.5 shows (extremely high quality) shows a week, plus whatever you do to feed yourself? Have you developed a way to avoid sleeping or are you just that good? And don't forget to recording hours of Silveo lines. And Norm say...

That was fantastic! Especially the musical! Was that Monika? Good job, Monika! More musical DC, please!
Amongst everything else, it referenced a really early DC story. I can't remember the name, but it was about a deadly suit. I'm pretty sure it was an intentional reference.

"but I know people say the stories are often feminist and have a common tone to them" I've listened to every episode of Podcastle and haven't noticed this at all. o.O I'm with Talia. I've listened to Podcastle since it started, and I think it's a good mag, no more feminist than any other non-sexist...

Yeah, agree with Swamp. You guys need to submit this puppy to iTunes so that we can get it easily. There are Wordpress plugins that will give you that screen that allows for iTunes subscription without being in the store. Feedburner will also give you that page (though I do not recommend Feedburner)...

At the risk of making people angry - This story touches on something I was talking about to friends the other day. The question was: is misogyny adaptive? When given access to education and birth control, women do not have nearly as many kids. Throughout history in most cultures, women have been den...

Re: Drabblecast 157- Brief Candle by Ruthanna Emrys
I thought this was a brilliant piece of work and summarizes many people (particularly women)'s fears of having children. You lose your name. Women of my parents' generation were especially prone to this. They were taught to give of themselves to their families until nothing was left, and they will s...

This was exceptional! New contender for top pick DC. I love this kind of story with its bitter-sweet hope and clever, quick-witted protagonist. Sarah Tolbert was the perfect narrator. Really liked the drabble and drabble news, too. It did make me wonder how many times Norm said those genus species n...

Re: Fill my ears
YA - there will always be a readership for it, and there's not a lot of market for short stories in the genre (strange, since the novels are so popular). So write more, I say, and push it. Unfortunately, a huge part of the readership is composed of adults who simply aren't comfortable with adult boo...
