Re: Fill my ears

I thought it was cool that Abbie and Forrest (the Clonepod hosts) have the same names as my brother and me (Hughes's first name is Forrest, but he's a junior, so we always called him by his middle name). :)

Re: Podcast Tags and Filenames

Just as an aside for anyone looking at podcasting: do not use Audacity to tag stuff! It's not good for that. I use iTunes and/or a custom program from somebody on Podiobooks. There are other, more powerful (paid) programs, such as Tag&Rename. Good tagging software not only creates the fields you nee...

Re: Podcasts I like or don't like

*googles: British slang blinder* :D I love it when I learn new words on DC forums.

Yeah, the "The Mermaid’s Tea Party" was dark and delicious. What is it with blood-soaked tea party stories lately? It is a winning meme.

Re: Drabblecast 154 - Family Values by Sara Genge

This was awesome when I heard it on EP, and it just got more awesome on DC. To me, the funniest thing about this story is the way the jelly fish are referred to as "men" and "women." It fascinates me, because the writer simply refuses to be stumped by a common problem when writing about non-human ch...

Re: Got a voice you want to cast?

The point where it is definitely easier to just e-mail bands and ask if something is ok is the point where I give up. I take the view that it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. I use them as I interpret their license and assume that they're not lying when they say they're not evil....

Norm Interview on Cowry Catchers Feed

Hey, guys. I did an hour and a half interview with Norm on Cowry Catchers feed. We talked a lot about Drabblecast. We also covered ring worm (why is it not a worm? why?!), weird recording environments, and the size of Norm's...cat. :D If you want to listen, it's here: http://cowrycatchers.com/?p=430...

Re: Got a voice you want to cast?

Plus, their interpretation of "creative commons non-commercial" worries me somewhat. You can't use their music free in a Youtube video because someone--not you, but someone --is making money off it. I prefer the Escape Pod definition (no one is charging money for the content so it's ok) because it'...

Re: Got a voice you want to cast?

Magnatune is high quality and totally free if you never plan to sell it. If you do plan to sell it, there is a tiered fee system based on your budget for the project (unrelated to how much you will charge or make). This can be reasonable or wildly unreasonable, depending on what you need. If you use...

Re: Moray Eels Attack Prey like Ripley's Alien

*le sigh* Norm hearts eel girl. Maybe he just hearts her job. Maybe he just likes referring to himself in the 3rd person Dude, why are you in music? Why didn't you get a degree in marine biology? I suppose you were lured away from science by those high paying non-profit music jobs. (Not that we're ...

Re: Moray Eels Attack Prey like Ripley's Alien

That is so cool. Also, they linked this article http://scienceblogs.com/notrocketscience/2009/05/venomous_komodo_dragons_kill_prey_with_wound-and-poison_tact.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false about the discovery of Komodo dragon venom, which is just fascinating. This was filled with win and LOL. The story, the reading, Liz's drabble, the wandering domino chain of Norm's intro - loved it!

Norm, one thing I forgot to ask in the interview was: How many time have you read Dune? :D

It's interesting how stand up comics have to push it just a little cruder. Norm, by not seeking fame :-), has been able to stay true to his high-brow low comedy. Tom...
