Re: Drabblecast 156- Going to the Chapel by Sandra Odell

I agree, tremendous charisma in the lead role. If Norm takes a narration break, he sure doesn't skimp on the sub. And he's got mega-shoes to fill, so that's saying something. Again, another great, solid non-Norm read, maybe the BEST (dunno, Sarah Tolbert last week was pretty awesome.) I think the Dr...

Re: Drabblecast 155- The Second Conquest of Earth by L.J. Daly

That was FANNNNNTASTIC! Really a splendid story and an absolutely outstanding storytelling performance by Sarah Tolbert. I also loved the Kus voice and agree with strawman that the smacky clucking was a neat touch, somehow really allowing me to visualize how this big mean looking creature looked lik...

Re: Drabblecast 154 - Family Values by Sara Genge

"One night stands aren't easy... that's long time to stand." Loved this episode. And yes the drabble and twabble were great. I thought the main story was definitely interesting and enjoyed it. I do vaguely remember hearing it on escapepod a long time ago but it had a much more engaging fee...

Re: Drabblecast 153- What Fluffy Knew by Kristine Kathryn Rusch

I thought the reading was really fantastic on this one. Not my favorite story, but certainly very entertaining. I really loved Sing, and this fell a good bit short of that wonderful piece. But I enjoyed how Fluffy kept her self-serving priorities in line the whole time, very accurate of cats, and it...

Re: Drabblecast 152- Trifecta XI

Monkeys was my favorite, but I liked them all. Maybe Norm's right and I'm a sucker for spider monkeys. I thought the reader's delivery was great. Clever how it fit but didn't fit into the anthropomorphism theme, while also, by it's title and subject matter was ambiguous on those same lines. Cod was ...

Re: Fill my ears

Wow thanks for all the stuff to check out dreamrock! I can vouch for the Clarkesworld cast. It has been good so far. I gave Final Rune a shot. Like Dunesteef, I found it fairly well produced but the stories tend to suck. I'd say try Variant Frequencies. It doesn't have nearly the diversity of Drabbl...

Re: "Best Story" Finals! Vote Here

Yah, I've gotta give it up to Teddies too. It was really tough between that, AA and Babel Probe though. I LOVED Dino's but it doesn't stand up on it's own in print as well without the big production. Clown Eggs was also great, but only in a fun, whimsical way... not in an epic way like BP AA and Ted...

Re: Drabblecast 150- Morris and the Machine by Tim Pratt

Yes, Morris lived in the past and locked the door to the basement. Penny also lived in her past of youthful drinking that had grown into adult alcoholism and locked the door to her heart. That's what I got on to say! durn. :x As others have mentioned, there are lots of layers and themes going on in...

Re: Drabblecast 149- So You're Going to Die by Robert Reed

That was a reaaaaaallly cool story. I think the points people brought up about it being heavy on idea and light on plot are valid, but for me, the framework of the story as basically a long sales pitch seemed to fix that problem. He throws in a couple offhand vignettes about how he got into the busi...

I lOVED that part with the kazoos. I agree with Phenopath that the story got better and better, with a great finish. The characters in this story were fantastic, the jokes and ideas all very funny, the overall concept so hilariously inappropriate but taken so seriously you totally forget. Favorite m...

I'm with Praxis (cool art by the way, colloseum/roulette table was neat idea.) This story wasn't a heavy-hitter like Pratt's previous stories on the show have been, but it did draw me in, was well read by mur, norm andabbi and was enjoyable. I felt my eyes almost watering up a little at the very swee...

Loved it! All of it. Intro made me spit coffee from my mouth.Frankenstein chicken or jersey blue, the spat felt straight out of political talk radio.
The drabble was fun, the main story even more so. Ride of the valkeries scene was priceless.

Maybe recording equipment is finally coming full circle to bring some of that back. Podcasts and ebooks and blogs have that fiddler-on-the-street-corner feel that can be so much more magical than mass product. True, but then you've got occasional things like Drabblecast, where the production, stori...

Re: Story ideas thread

I still think it'd be cool if there were some tehtix spin-off stories from the drabblecast story "The Beekepers." I remember there was some talk of this when they story came out a year or two ago and the author was cool with the idea of other people running with it. I'm not really a writer...
