Re: Girls With Guns

An excellent tale, Varda. Following behind a most excellently misleadng title.

I enjoyed this thoroughly but can't help wonder, were the Barbies fighting with G.I. Joe? Kung Fu grips can be dangerous on those skinny little arms.

Re: Ghost Stories - Zombie Campfire II

So I've got a very small nitpick, and only because I'm taking a Hearing Science class: if the zombie's missing his outer ear, that'll only cause a 5 dB hearing loss, max. That flap is mainly only useful as an earring holder on humans. Now if his skull's crushed in at the ear, then we've got middle/...

Ghost Stories - Zombie Campfire II

“And that’s when the figure,” the teller of stories paused, building some tension, “took a breath.” Screams erupted from the others around the fire, followed by uncomfortable laughter. “So, he was alive the whole time?” one asked. “Duh!” moaned another, striking the first on the shoulder; dislodging...

Nice drabble, Doc!
Zombie ghost stories involve them being frightened by the living. Hmmm....Not a bad drabble idea, that...

That episode made me cry manly tears of manly sadness. But really, it was dusty in the room.

Re: The Wheel

Love it!

What a great way to invoke the forces of evil.

And the prize? A death with only minimal suffering perhaps?

Re: The Scream (The Most Irritating Thing Ever theme)

Good one! Just one little thing, your line "I have not ate or drank" feels a bit awkward as you are sticking a negative to a past tense. Perhaps a change to "I have neither eaten nor drank", same word cound and flows a bit better. I'm usually not the "grammer police" as I understand the point of the...

Re: A Regret

I loved this one, Varda. I really enjoy the ones where animals are given to be human. The mice thing was pretty clear from the start, and I found it quite convincing and easy to get into the world you've created.

Zombie Campfire

There is nothing quite like taking a break from the hectic zombie lifestyle. Gathering together with your fellow zombies to enjoy peaceful relaxation after chasing down those few remaining survivors was a nice way to spend a night. A group of ten sat around a warm zombie campfire, the smell of roast...

Back to School

“What happened to this place?” I asked nobody in particular as we entered the old school. Just over twenty years ago we had graduated; it had been filled with bodies and minds. Now it was vacant, crumbling, dirty, graphitized walls greeted us. “Didn’t you hear?” from my left came Brian’s voice. “The...

No Worries. I was not offended as I do not know your overall opinion of folks named Thomas. I assume they are good.

Thanks, Varda. Both for your feedback and your congratulations! I do agree that a less passive voice would be more impactful on this one. I've been doing a lot of experimentation with my drabbles for the last few that I've done, this one and Mermaid Sushi specifically, in trying things out with diff...

You know I was just driving to work this morning, listening to the drabblecast and I hear a familiar drabble on the podcast. Congrats Dr. Banzai! This is still one of my favorites. I am glad this was picked up for publishing. Thank you, Flintknapper. I was sure excited. I think Norm did a great rea...

Chalk Outlines

When the scene was left last night, there were 2 outlines on the hardwood floor, each one in thick, white chalk, a pool of blood at the head of each one. Lights were turned out and the location secured for the night. Upon return, there were four outlines on the floor. Confusing. We looked at each ot...

Don't Bring Work Home

“My Daddy always told me that work should be left at work, home should be left at home.” “Sounds like a smart man, your Daddy,” the older woman next to me answered. She smiled as I told her my story. “Thank you for saying so, Ma’am,” I replied. “The collected advice that he gave me has got me throug...

Pushy

We stood by the railing, knee high metal held up by thick wooden legs, watching the sunset across the gorge. Below us, filled with shadows, the beauty of nature gaped up at the sky. In choosing to take this trip, after several days of disagreement and argument over the destination, our dream of clos...
