Re: Drabblecast 293 – The Call Of The Pancake Factory

It was unexpected, but it was everything I have come to expect from Liu. Loved it. Cthulhu meets global marketing venture capitalist. It was a funny approach that really twisted things, but it didn't come off as over-the-top. Good fit for the Drabblecast too! It leaves me drooling for the last story...

Re: We Were Conquistadors

Thanks Thomas. I mostly try to write fiction about sixteenth and seventeenth century New Mexico, either from a Native American or Spanish point of view. If you interested, I got a ton more down the drabble list and in the short story forum. I am going to post Giusewa, a story I originally wrote for ...

Re: Sing Down

Strange even for you scattercat. I like the repetitive use of the phrase "This is not a contradiction." It is a reflective piece, beautiful in composition, but to me... it is a contradiction and will always be.

Re: O'Shea

I think the thing that does it for me is the Irish name. It is a great story by itself, but I think O'shea can almost be a metaphor for the irish people as a whole. The thing the author doesn't tell you about is the copious amounts of alcohol O'shea drinks to cope with it all... hehehe... I made a f...

I too think it is human skin, in fact a part of me though he was holding her head.

However, I like the open endedness of the tale. It certainly meets with the drabblecast criteria of bizarre spec fic!

We Were Conquistadors

Captain Carabajal had found me loading a ball into my musket. He stopped me. “Load shot instead.” Captain instructed. “A single ball kills one. Shrapnel injures many. “ I did as he said and took aim at the crowd. My hands shook and my pulse raced as I pulled the trigger. Then a thunderous boom and t...

The colorful bits were evidence of his crime. I held the bunny's corpse up for all to see. Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids.

Re: Translating Sappho

I think something was added (instead of lost) in translation. Fun and lighthearted drabble! Also are those initial lines old english? They look cyrillic. However, I am by no means a linguistic expert.

Re: Storytelling is Linear

I think this is a clever ruse to get us to read your blog.... Well it worked! Good essay.I have not read what Cat said. However, I find it funny that there is a desire among fiction authors to write long complex sentences. In technical non-fiction, I had it hammered into me not to do so. One thought...

Re: Drabblecast 292 – Hollow As The World

Lovecraft meets Minecraft. The two crafts combine! My wife and oldest son play minecraft is this what is going to happen to them? Loved the story. Great concept and the delivery was spot on. I have really liked just about everything Ferrett has written. This was no exception. I am not a big fan of g...

This is horrible, I know. It is an old pueblo joke. In the folk version told throughout new mexico, the shepherds are usually Navajo. Though I heard a Navajo tell it where he substituted his own tribe for Zuni.
