Re: Knock (Lovecraft)

This is a great drabble. It succeeds in being both horrific as well as a moral dilemma that is left unresolved. Does he open the door? I would think not, but it really places the reader in the position of what they would do. As the girl is running down the street going from house to house, you can a...

Re: Drabblecast 285 – Doubleheader XIII

Kowal is a fantastic writer. Both of these stories worked for me and I had not heard Locked In before. The stories are actually quite dark at their conclusions, but feel so warm and lighthearted in their delivery. I love the underlying sinister elements which only really come to the surface at the e...

Re: The Horror Awaits (Lovecraft?)

Lovecraftian horror is about the un-explainable and un-comprehensible. A mother-in-law does kind of fit that bill. So yeah, good drabble H. P. Sunner!

Re: Scatterbrains

Three cheers for the zombies taking Wichita? am I right? C'mon... its a joke. Seriously though, it wouldn't surprise me if the government had some facility Kansas. Up here in Jemez, the local tourists always get a kick out of looking at the guestbook for our historic site, last week someone came in ...

Re: Wednesday Past (Lovecraft Attempt #2)

I said this about another drabble, but I think trying to do a lovecraftian drabble is a real challenge. Lovecraft was verbose and the idea of keep the style while also adding a layer of horror is hard. I think in this one you captured the language of lovecraft, but perhaps not the horror. That being...

Cool imagery. It invokes a little bit of Douglas Adams style in the writing.

could be referring to half the American population, but I digress. It is a good drabble, but a bit depressing.

ditto what doctor banzai said.

I didn't see this one coming. I expected it would have something to do with feces. I didn't see the hairstylist coming.

Yeah! The Koshare's Tale got over 100 views. You guys either like it or really hate it and directing friends to it because it so stupid you need to share it with others. Either way, I am thankful.

Re: Structural Decay

Loved it. It reminds me of one of those madlibs. I am not sure I am spelling this right or have the correct word, but those booklets as a kid where you were supposed to fill in the blank with a funny noun or verb and then read the story.

This one would translate well for the audio podcast.

Re: Blackened Sheep Of The Family

good drabble. I imagine the combining of the words whatsisname was to keep in the 100 word limit, but maybe not. you probably could have gotten away with the word god instead and still been okay.

Ending was solid. It was twisted and humorous without being slap stick.

Re: Challenges (Good Samaritan themed)

very twisted. The narrator could be any number of things, but I imagine he is a serial killer or rapist. I think it has to do with the way the first 90 percent of the story is delivered.

Good drabble. But it is the location written under the writer's name that made me laugh. Dare I ask? why regrettably?

Re: Fireflies (Lovecraft Theme)

very successful in conjuring the cthulhu mythos. I think that is hard to do in a 100 word story. While you can argue if it is cthulhu mythos, it is kind of reminds me a little of King's It and the dead lights. I am not sure if that was intentional. The description doesn't seem to match for the creat...
