GUT instinct

As is our tradition on Tuesdays, I sit in on a discussion between Professor Hardy and his graduate students. The topic is, as always, the most recent advances in physics. You see, the esteemed professor is the world's premier authority on the subject of the Grand Unified Theory of Physics. I listen ...

Re: Announcing the Weekly Tw(itter)-(Dr)abble Contest!

How's this?

Oscar Myer foods had purchased the majority of private funeral homes. That was sufficient to introduce the new product.

I see what you mean about it being more specific. Guess I've got an automatic anti-lawsuit instinct. But this is parody, isn't it?

Would those be Soylent Green dogs?

This was a breakthrough deal between the largest food and drug producers and the AMA. There would be huge profits for all.

Learning how the Higgs field works was the hard part. With that it was easy to make the Sun go supernova. Far, far too easy.

Re: Drabblecast 39 - The Beekeepers by J. Alan Pierce

Great story! Imaginative premises, epic context, very well done.

I've been working my way backwards through the archives and this is the first story that I really felt compelled me to make a post about it.

We worship many rock gods. Here you see a sacrifice prepared to the Gods Kauhuhu and Jimmy. http://homepage.mac.com/emarsh/.Pictures/rockgods2.jpg Here is the sacred space where the lesser gods Kaupe, Lua-o-Milu and Nanaue reside. http://homepage.mac.com/emarsh/.Pictures/rockgods1.jpg Of course the ...

Re: The Others

I don't claim to be a writer, but found the drabble format to be attractive because it provides a clear format and a manageable size. Rather than being work, I found drabble writing to be fun - a way to play with some ideas. The down side to the drabble is that to tell any sort of a story with any c...

The Others

I don't know where the urges came from. The kittens and puppies were first. There was the boy up the street and later the prostitutes. I turned my "special talents" into a career. The CIA was among those who utilized my services. Soon after we encountered the others, one of them "got lost" and found...

Redemption

God spoke to Mary Wilson. God told Mary to go forth and tell the people that humanity had sinned. Only a great baptism could redeem the people of Earth. With the aid of some minor miracles Mary brought to the world a great revival. Men, women and children of all races from all of the world's nations...

Re: Drabbles for Dummies

Eric Marsh posted his first drabble ever in the Drabblecast drabbles forum. The next morning he saw that Phenopath said “Dude! That drabble is only 99 words.” “But,” Eric wrote, “According to OpenOffice it was 100 words. I actually had to change 'OpenOffice Writer document' to 'OpenOffice document' ...

Drabbles for Dummies

Eric Marsh had discovered a neat new podcast. It was called the Drabblecast. A drabble, he soon found out, is a story exactly one hundred words long. Eric thought that it would be kind of fun to write a drabble, but he couldn't think of anything that he wanted to write about. Well, he really couldn'...

Norm works for Drabblecast

No seriously, I just recently found the Drabblecast and I'm very impressed by Norman's efforts. Quite the talented guy.

Re: good deal

Pseudopod is my podcast home away from home: love their story selection, never miss an episode. It's never the same thing twice. If podcasting itself was in front of a firing squad, I'd leap to take the bullet for Norm, but my arms would be extended as far as they could to deflect whatever was aime...
