Re: The Great War

I agree. I've been studying the Great War lately and in many ways it just blows my mind. Trench warfare may be one of the most horrendous things that our species has come up with. You would think that we would learn but as we move into the next century we just become more sophisticated in our means ...

The Great War

The results are in. “The Great War” is a tremendous commercial success. Audiences are raving about the four year long epic even though it has been less warmly received by critics. “The sights, the smells, the pathos” says an audience member, “it's a thrill to experience such insanity through the sen...

Re: Announcing the Weekly Tw(itter)-(Dr)abble Contest!

After taking his lithium God became aware that everything that He thought was real was just a figment of His imagination.

Re: The Muses

Footnote: I never really appreciated horror (except for Lovecraft) until I discovered Pseudopod. Most horror is so lame as that I just don't find it entertaining. But now that I've started playing around with drabbles it seems that quite a few of the ones I've written have an aspect of horror (or at...

The Muses

The muses come to me at night and leer with their rotting death skull faces. Maggots drop from them onto my desk as they compel me to write. They show me death brought about in ten thousand terrible ways and things that are so much worse than death that the mind must shy away to preserve one's sanit...

Re: Stalker

I'm not comitted to her being a vampire but "vampire" does provide a convenient shorthand for something that feasts on people and it's one that most people understand. But I'd be perfectly happy if she was something else. I'd not considered the possibility of the protagonist being a monster killer. ...

Re: Stalker

Julia Roberts? Is Julia undead? I had more of a vision of this being in the silent film era with a Jean Harlow like actress. I don't really care for the vampire genre as I feel that vampires have been way overdone in recent years. But a vampire-like creature seems to work here. Why go chasing your ...

Stalker

Willowy and pale, she calls to me from the silver screen. I steal a car and head west. Wherever she goes, I follow. Hidden, just out of sight, I study her. I watch her house at night. The opportunity that I awaited has come. Her servants and bodyguards are gone, she is alone in her mansion. In my ba...

Re: Drabblecast 116- It's All in the Knowing by Mikal Trimm

When Norm said Mikal lives in a small town outside of Austin I got curious and did a google. Evidently he lives in Lockhart, same as me.

Swan Lake

Police Lieutenant Briansky peered through the mirrored glass at the old man in the interview room. He asked “So this Mr. Von Rothbart has admitted to holding the thirteen missing girls captive?” “Yes sir” said Sergeant Sadova. “And you say that we can not press charges?” Briansky queried. “We have s...

Re: Einstein's Greatest Blunder

I didn't want this to be about the Creator, other than implying that it is the Creator described in Genesis. I wanted it to be about Forfax and his task of trying to patch up the crappy rushed job that the Creator did. I came up with the name Forfax doing a google for angel names. According to one w...

Re: Einstein's Greatest Blunder

Yea, I like for tweaking better. It's tough to fit things into 100 words. If you're not familiar with the back story, when Einstein put a cosmological constant into his Theory of Relativity he later called it his greatest blunder. Years later it turned out that the cosmological constant should have ...

Einstein's Greatest Blunder

Forfax scanned the list of defects. The Creator had hacked His creation together in a week. The rules were simple - dimensions had been created, then seas and land. A light source was set in motion and entities formed to inhabit the Earth. On a whim the Creator had put a spark of Himself into an ent...

I'm glad you like. That one came from a group activity where we were supposed to do an impromptu sales presentation for anything we liked, the more manic the better. Meta-Brain just came to me - from where, I don't know. But I've thought that it would be fun to do a Youtube Meta-Brain parody commerc...
