Re: Toshie's War (ROU's 1000th post)

They do say, (and I've found it to be mostly true) that physical activity is a good way to combat depression. Exercise tends to be fairly ineffective for me, though it can put me in a sort of zen no-mind that's a bit useful. It probably wouldn't be a bad thing to get back to it in any case. That an...

Re: Announcing the Weekly Tw(itter)-(Dr)abble Contest!

"Give the gift of misunderstanding!" Seemed like a good idea. Expensive. She'd love it. If only it had been for just her.

Re: Toshie's War (ROU's 1000th post)

Trouble with mirrors. With that awesome beard? Tweedy's gonna scold you over that... :-) Haha, actually I got over the issues with mirrors at some point after I was capable of producing a decent beard, but before I had actually done so. I think the beard may have had something to do with the improv...

Re: Toshie's War (ROU's 1000th post)

I'm glad my issue with mirrors (self-loathing) is resolved and wasn't as serious as that. I don't have nearly so good a support system.

And I'm also glad to have you back at writing. :)

Lost

James knew how to time travel and would've shared if the location wasn't random. Good thing he had the bottomless fries.

Re: Dreamsicle

Thanks! The first Twilight movie was such a great comedy, I went to see New Moon with great hopes of a laugh riot. Unfortunately, someone tried to make it a good movie, and it utterly failed to provide the hoped-for laughs. I kept wishing for a Sarah Michelle Geller cameo. The significance of the bl...

Haha, tentacle love I can get behind. I would have appreciated a bit more romance and a little less of the testosterone, but it's definitely A+ in my book.

Re: Toshie's War (ROU's 1000th post)

In one sense, I had a feeling where this was going, but in another, I was almost sure it wasn't going there at all. The war with oneself can be the most painful one of all. This really captured that. If this really had more than one character, I'd agree that the dialogue needed work. However, it doe...

The dreamsicle was marketing fluff. "Tastes like real dreams!" couldn't be true. Then, I had a lick. At first it tasted like nothing. Not cold, hard, or sweet. Slowly, there was a sensation on my tongue. I realized that I had not felt my tongue at all when I first licked. The feeling then was like h...

Re: Last Shot

Exactly what Stephen King suggests in "On Writing." Put it in the bottom drawer and forget about it completely. Come back after it has had time to ferment. If you haven't read that, put that on the top of your priority list. I'm familiar with it and with a lot of excerpts from it, but haven't actua...

Re: How'd you find Drabblecast?

I had heard about Drabblecast on other podcasts before, but didn't get around to checking it out. Listening to Norm narrate On The Eyeball floor on Escape Pod, I was finally inspired to check out Drabblecast. I found Escape Pod by googling for science fiction podcasts when I bought my new MP3 player.

Re: Last Shot

I agree. It sounds very fun and it sounds like the novel is a lot of fun for you to write. I am a little jealous in that I thought I might be ready for NaNo this year but am not. I hope you do well. :) I hit 50K and the end of the story today. Hoping to have a first pass edit finished this week, bu...

Re: Your Avatar

No man should have to go without a beard, Mr. Tweedy. I have donated several beards to science for the purpose of discovering a cure to this debilitating illness known as male pattern facial baldness (MPFB ... on second thought, I just googled that acronym and we're probably doing to need something ...

Well, I have been looking for a genre to trail blaze in, and this must be a subject that interests me since it is the second story I've used it in so far. I'll see what I can do. Always happy to amuse.

LOL Well, he's attacking them because they're about to overrun Windsor. The time is because it takes awhile to load crossbows. He's using a crossbow because these zombies are fairly much immune to gunfire. Not all my zombies, just this group of zombies. They'd be immune to crossbows too, but the bol...

Re: Last Shot

Thanks! I'm not particularly experienced with action-heavy scenes, so in artistic terms, I guess this could be called a 'study.' Or, more likely, a vignette? That sounds too fancy for this, but I guess it could work. It feels weird to me to be back in first person when I've written over 40K words in...

Last Shot

It could have been a dream. A nightmare. The dark cold night was filled with maybe a dozen of the ghouls. Pale with death and decay, their smell reached across the yard and overpowered even the smell of the precious blood strewn all about the place. Their fingers dripped with the blood of fallen sci...

Re: Your Avatar

My avatar proves that I am either unoriginal or not too afraid of having my face on the net? Or something. I don't know. I took this picture and cropped it. It was my twitter picture for awhile before I used a few moments of my fifteen minutes of fame getting the attention of Cory Doctorow by using ...
