Re: Drabblecast 199 - In the Octopus's Garden

AACCKKK!! Ugh. Couldn't disagree with you more, bud. I am very, very glad to have Norm reading this one and any other he cares to... Come on now. I am repeatedly on record as being a major Uncle Norm fanboy, but any story he cares to? Even excluding tales told in a female voice, there are certain s...

Re: Drabblecast 199 - In the Octopus's Garden

With regards to Unblinking's comment, I thought the premise of this story was that he was, essentially, a ghost kept on earth because a traumatic event kept him here. Once he killed her, I expected the resolution to free his spirit and dissipate. I hope. You're definitely right that he stuck around...

Re: Vote Here! Best Drabble

I tend to shy away from letting my co-workers know how weird I am. My wife does give me some funny looks, however, when stories like "The Work That Must Be Done" fall into to my Awesome column and her Horrifying one.

Re: Vote Here! Best Episode Art

#188. It effectively converts the entire story into a symbol, which is what a great illustration should do. All of these look awesome, but, in addition to looking awesome, #188 actually tells the story. I totally agree. The Mongoose cover is alright, but I have a feeling that it's getting a signifi...

Re: Drabblecast 197 - Death Comes But Twice

He drowned, decapitated, horribly poisoned people and hardly anyone blinked an eye. I suppose using the condemned as test subjects was acceptable then, but what about the maid? I don't know if torture or pain is equal to a quick death, even if they don't die or recall. What creeped me out is how it...

Re: Drabblecast 197 - Death Comes But Twice

´Twas a delight most pleasing. Probably my favourite story for a very long time. It packed a lot of metaphysics into a short time - how about the morals of temporarily killing criminals to literally "put the fear of hell" into them in order to reform. Shades of Clockwork Orange. Good point about Cl...

Re: Drabblecast 196- Moons Like Great White Whales by C.C. F

Overall I'm giving this story a thumbs up, in a subdued way. It was... nice . Over the last month or so we have seen one killer fastball after another, so this was a fantastic change-up. Totally unexpected and really sweet. I usually listen to the 'Cast about a week before my wife gets around to it...

Re: Drabblecast 192 - Rangifer Volans

Tim's story was extraordinarily entertaining. DC and Pratt clearly have a passionate bro'mance going on if Pratt is basically writing fanfic for the podcast. Really really loved this story and this entire episode BTW, I thought that Norm really brought his A game to the outro on this week's Escape ...

Re: spoilers

How many of us read the forum posts before listening to the story? Not asking in an accusatory fashion, I'm just curious.

Also, this one should have had a disclaimer. That was disturbing in so many ways.

Re: B Sides 12 - Snuggle the Dead

What great scheduling. Movie after movie we watch people try to survive the onset of a zombie apocalypse. Over at the Drabblecast we get a peek at what might happen if we lost, and here we see one of the (unfortunately) inevitable results of our winning out against the onslaught. Never underestimate...

Re: Drabblecast 151- The Society of Eccentric Moustaches

My mustache has the unfortunate quality of only barely making it to the corners of my mouth (no chance for a goatee). As a result, I look like a total pedophile. Though it doesn't sound quite as bad when you pronounce it like the British pee-dophile.

Re: Drabblecast 194 - A Distant Sound of Hammers

Well, that was intense. I had planned on commenting last night but I still hadn't gotten all my thoughts together. I think that the thing that really strikes me about this world is the chicken. The chicken cubes play such a central roll, not only in the narrative but also in the greater mindset of t...

Welcome to the wonders of the American language! Just like English except with a billion unique regional colloquialisms. Re: Drabblecast 193 - Scales

Wow, just added it up, we've produced 9 Tim Pratt stories I think. I recently told Tim (in classic wwic style via an email he probably didn't read) that the next time the DC commissions a story from him, he should demand a title as part of his terms. Writer-in-Residence or Weirdo Laureate or someth...

Re: What scared you as a kid...?

I remember a period where I was genuinely scared of going for car rides. The reason? I couldn't get the imagined image of my mom's fingers being caught in the slamming door out of my head. I was certain that one of these times it was finally going to happen and our family simply wouldn't survive her...

The music production this episode was truly excellent, Norm. Really, really top notch work. Even more than the story itself, this is what I noticed when I listened the second time. Song selection, changing sound levels and incorporating the music to become part of the story - it's your best work th...
