Re: Drabblecast 165- Doubleheader VI - Ellen Klages

You're right about this being an old-school Drabblecast. I'm a relatively new listener and as I've made my way through the archives over the last 6 months or so several things have jumped out to me: 1. Many of the most memorable moments have been when Norm just started riffing Freestyle about his un...

Re: Drabblecast 164- The Observer by Kristine Kathryn Rusch

I respect your opinion and see where you are coming from, but I disagree. I think the extra material saved the episode from a bad story. That same material wrapped around a similar themed story could be awesome, but, not every week can be a winner. It's not so much the themes as the tone that I tak...

Re: Drabblecast 164- The Observer by Kristine Kathryn Rusch

Norm, the whole of that podcast was way less than the sum of the parts. I don't think you could have picked a worse set of stories to bracket with silly raps about how uptight the Mormons are if you tried. The songs were funny (especially the outro), but would have been far better suited for a diffe...

Re: Drabblecast 162- Birdwatcher by Garth Upshaw

My interp: He's just the only one who decided to stay. The others decided they would be happier someplace else. But that's not an option for him, because wherever he goes, he'll be there. I have a hard time believing that he's the only person who decided to stay. The allure of the gilded cage might...

Re: Drabblecast 162- Birdwatcher by Garth Upshaw

I have to say that the story really snuck up on me. I was halfway into Norm's comments afterward when the parallels finally sunk in. The way the aliens gave just a taste of perfect happiness and then left the decision whether to dive back into the fantasy or continue on with their petty lives up to ...

Re: Drabblecast 154 - Family Values by Sara Genge

Not a bad technique, come to think of it. But I'd probably get a better vibe from a terrarium, since I'm a land mammal. Why aren't there any land critters with tentacles, huh? Tell me that. Snails were the first thing to came to mind, but then I came across this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star-n...

Re: Drabblecast 154 - Family Values by Sara Genge

Excellent, thank you. It was actually just after the introduction that I was wondering about, the part where he says "And I recall a certain Senator who was invested soon after her first marriage." The word "invested" was my best guess for what she was saying, but it didn't seem to make sense in tha...

Re: Drabblecast 154 - Family Values by Sara Genge

Second off- The volume was fine. However the narrator has a very hard to understand voice, so I had to turn up the volume about 40% to clearly hear the story. When you mix a silky voice with unusual words, it becomes hard to understand. I would have to agree. I usually listen to my stories on the t...
