The third... well, the third was a great story wrecked by the fact that the author forgot to stop at the end. It was great while Cupid was a crossbow wielding cherub, and it became funny when the bolts turned out to be, you know, deadly. When Cupid turned into a crazy man in a jeep, though, the sto...

I came across the idea in one of John Barrow's books, where he not only suggests it's a possibility, but argues that it's the most likely explanation for the cosmos as we understand it. And the observational evidence is intriguing. I mean, if I were a scientist running a simulation of self aware ent...

Hmm, I enjoyed this one, but I don't know if I'll bother keeping it. The first story was quite absurd, almost like a Monty Python movie. Alisdair's voice certainly helps the comparison. I just realised I didn't listen to the second that closely---I had other stuff going on for that five minutes. I d...

and the the only sound that didn't work was the brass synths. That goes for brass synths in general. Norm, I know it would be a whole heap more work for you to do, but have you ever thought about getting people to write/record music for the show? I know, it's one thing to sit down with your banjo a...

The wife and I went to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button the other night. I really liked it, which did surprise me a little. The special effects were superb, and fully deserve the Oscar nom. The acting was solid, even if there were stars in the movie (I'm coming to realise that some stars get ...

Zombies attack Texas

Yep, and I have a photo to prove it! The Texas Department of Transportation wouldn't lie, would they?

Well, almost. I thought it might have had something to do with George Bush returning home, but, oh well. Zombies, man!

Not long, I'd wager. Why feed the goat when you can feed on the goat?

Just so long as his name isn't Peter Pettigrew. He lasted 12 years as a rat, and only showed himself when Sirius Black sent a bolt of magic up his tail.

Squid-human Reconciliation Society

I've got absolutely no idea about the background to this picture (apart from 'blue') but I'm sure many of the folks here would join if given the chance. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1237/1302579133_cb90c14778.jpg * http://www.intelligentdesign.com.au/blog/2009/01/24/squid-human-reconciliation-soci...

I enjoyed the voice-work and I laughed at the surprise ending. The surprise ending was good enough that I will surely rework it and tell it as my own joke in the future. Not having any gift for comedy myself, I have to steal from others. (Redistribution of wit.) I'm surprised nobody's heard this jo...

That was a fantastic use of the twenty or so minutes I had to listen. The intertextuality was amazing---all those little side references to (now) obscure music and musicians. I mean, introducing a story about disco with 'Aqualung' was pure genius! I also got all the names of the heavy metal stars to...

While I find the Drabblecast a great source of strange ickiness (The Worm Within, Code Brown, the exploding cat one), horror (umm. Sizzle? The Crazy? I forget) and straight weirdness (anything by Samantha Henderson or Frank Key) it's the stories that renew my faith in humanity that get me going. Thi...

Notwithstanding the fact that Ann wasn't a zombie space mutant,* the drabble was freaking awesome. It was really moving. I didn't dig the story so much. It was well written, it was well read, the ideas were provocative (as this discussion has proven.) It just didn't leave me counting the many types ...

Jesus doesn't meet those criteria, so I would say he's not a zombie, whether or not the more general term "undead" could apply. As cammo points out, Jesus is actually sort of a reverse zombie. He rises from the dead so that humans can eat His flesh. An un-zombie. Is Jesus the unundead? Thanks, Twee...

to dislike a story because you define it in its most broad sense, as the reanimation of something that dies, is risky, because then technically jesus was a zombie, and the bible a zombie story, and therefore impossible to like. but not everyone does like the bible, and that's ok i guess. all im say...
