Re: #movieswithbatman

(I had to share this. Wish I had written it) Batman fights the dogs and then fights The Joker. Eventually The Joker falls off a ledge and plummets toward the ground, but Batman saves him. BATMAN: I saved you, Joker. That proves how committed I am to my sissy-pants moral code. JOKER: Huh. You didn’t ...

Babel-ing Idiot

Ted screamed in terror as his face and neck began to twist and contort. His neck bulged, then constricted, then bulged again. His jawbone cracked as muscles pushed it forward. His palate split, splaying his sinuses open. Teeth loosened and fell out. Some turned inward, and new teeth grew in places t...

Ebola Monkey Man

http://www.ebolamonkeyman.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This website is dedicated to making Nigerian scammers jump through all kinds of hoops in the belief that they've found a willing victim.

Hilarity ensues.

Re: For Safety's Sake

Lacks punch, but very nice character development in so short a space. I re-read it a couple of times and each time the characters solidified a bit more.

The characters really left me feeling like a book needed to be written around them.

Nice! :)

Trolling

The night was hot and one leg dangled limply. A clawed hand slid out from under the bed and seized the leg by the ankle. As expected, the leg jerked away and the thing under the bed tightened its grip. Yellow, jagged fingernails sank into the flesh, and a wet, burbling chuckle came up from the darkn...

Re: Morose Coloured Glasses

King's a better story teller (IMHO), but Koontz could really lay it on thick with the similes. He has an annoying habit of building the suspense, then spending a paragraph talking about the friggin' silver dollar on black velvet. "And as she gazed at the twinkling silver dollar, she let a long, slow...

I always thought he grocery-listed a bit too much in his early work, but I'll admit that I went a bit over the top for illustrative purposes. :-)

Whoops

This is actually an old joke my Dad used to tell. I thought it would be fun to Drabblize it: As I drank, I could smell the stale beer, the years of cigarette tar, but now I smelled something new and at first I thought Gern had just farted. “Did you just let one?” I asked, but even as I said it, the...

Morose Coloured Glasses

Blanston peered out at the night from the little shop’s window. Automobiles cruised by outside like antediluvian predators prowling an asphalt savanna. Stark street light reflecting from the enamelled skin of their machined torsos in warped Dali-esque distortions of an inwardly-twisted urban backdro...

I actually heard a dramatization of Marching Morons, years ago on an NPR radio show called 2000x (I'm pretty sure that was it), hosted by Harlan Ellison.

The captain turned to his first officer. “Who could’ve imagined, eh? It used to be only the genetically ‘perfect’ that got to go to the new colonies, but here we are.” “Yah, those handicaps back there are going to do so much better with a life of clean air and water. And who would have thought they’...
