Like it. My dog is just like this, though thankfully he hasn't encountered this exact situation.

Oooh, creepy.
Happy to say that my kids have only awakened with a scream two or three times, and I hope I can never sympathize with you here :-)

Re: Spread the Word (alien theme)

Sagan and Darwin as religious figures ... Interesting -- and accurate, methinks. Yeah, I've had a lot of conversations with people who claim to be staunchly anti-religion, but almost none of them have put any more thought into what they believe than have the people they mock - and having blind, unq...

Re: Little Sally (Zombies theme)

Heh.

Maybe it's just me, but I find the cute-kid-out-of-place to be the most consistently creepy element in fiction. Like walking through a dark abandoned school and hearing a kid's laughter down the hall.

Nice one, keep it up.

Also...graduating?? For me, twabbles are twice as tough as drabbles.

Re: The somnambulist

Thanks for the feedback, uncre8d1. First Drabble...and perhaps a little inspired by my history of childhood sleepwalking. Definitely tough to stick to the word limit, especially because I felt compelled to answer the very questions you posed. But I guess that's the beauty of the Drabble - not answe...

Re: The Issue With Time Travel

That would be a fine solution, assuming that you have a way to track the receiver through spacetime, some unique transtemporal carrier wave to home in on. Otherwise the receiver is just another bullseye for a blind sniper.
Hey, do you mind if I use this idea for a story?

Re: The Issue With Time Travel

As much as I like SF, this has always been my complaint with time travel stories. In order to fix an exit point, you have to know not only your absolute position in the universe (by finding one unmoving reference point in spacetime - good luck), but you also have to know every force that affects the...

No, no it is not. Same thing happened with my Redbox rental of Equilibrium.

I love this.
Ever read 'Daemon' by Daniel Suarez? Aside from being a great book, it makes great use of AR.

Also, I approve of referring to a geek as sexy.

Re: The somnambulist

Nice first post. Welcome. I don't know if this was your intention, but this got me thinking about the main character's experience. Does he remember and enjoy his dreams, or has he just learned to put his best foot forward in an uncontrollable situation? Is he lucid dreaming, aware that he's dreaming...

And you got that idea across well. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but the tone seems to shift suddenly in the last line. I really like the drabble.

Re: Spread the Word (alien theme)

True, but how many bbardles buy a hyperdrive? And how many drabbles for sufficient canned Gleekian souls to power said drive? And it may be moot anyway - until we establish intergalactic copyright agreements, it could be claimed that we're just giving the stuff away. Especially if anyone has been wa...
