Drabblecast 051 - Crimson

Crimson by Rob Haines (Episode link) http://www.drabblecast.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/drabblecast_051_rick_green-250x250.jpg What wonders my kin saw as the passed away, none living will ever know. Only those willing to taste the waters see as they did. Only those willing to taste the waters di...

Sir, giant water bugs are no joking matter. As our scientific research shows, nearly ONE FOURTH of all people on earth have attacked by these menaces, and many of them have come away with horrible maimings (real or imagined). Please, a little respect for their suffering.

None of these really grabbed me. "Chi" was strange and somewhat disturbing, but it didn't really make enough sense or have enough subtext to cross that line from being merely strange to being surreal. It's cool to have mystery in a story, but it's a bit much to reveal that there is a secret chamber ...

I forgot that Marlena said that people were being eaten. Hey, when you are a HUGE monster, you got eat all the time and humans were the most abundant food in that city. This is a good argument for keeping cows on your roof. That leaves one question: Why did that guy with the camera at the end of th...

I heard a story once about a boy who was born with the rare and debilitating condition know as acoprusalia. He had no body, just a head. As he grew up, he became quite despondent. The worst thing for him was seeing the normal children running and playing game in the park across the street from his h...

Yeah, seriously. Aside from actually seeing the credits, I would have thought the film was written, directed and produced by Abrams, like he did the film Shyamalan style. Stupid marketing. Directed by Matt Reeves Written by Drew Goddard Considering all the false speculation and go-nowhere rumors tha...

Incidentally, I really liked the co-narration. I liked it in Jelly Park too. Your voices are always great, but multiple people makes it sound more like radio theatre, which I dig.

This story didn't do anything for me. It needed a twist, but there wasn't one. The joke plods along in a perfectly strait line to a punch-line that isn't very punchy. If Carl the Brave discovered his girlfriend was really an evil sorceress responsible for the summoning of many monsters and the death...

I did. There wasn't anything visual at the end, but there was a quick audio clip which, if played backwards, purportedly says "It's still alive." I think we all assumed that it was still alive anyway, so that little hint means nothing. The music over the end credits was great. I keep checking iTunes...

What?! You did not give it 4 Stars?! Heretic! We banish you from the forum! I think "Cloverfield" was just an arbitrary government designation. Like calling your bomb research "Manhattan Project" or your space program "Mercury" or calling a hurricane "Wilma." "What the heck is that thing?" "I don't ...

"I just don't think I can date you anymore."
"What, Carl? What's the problem?"
"Well let me ask you a question first. What do you consider your job description as high priestess of Hurl?"

I still can't get it on iTunes and Drabblecast.org seems to be down. Curse Apple! I don't have any idea how you'd fix it. Seems like it would be a server error (something for Apple to fix) since both the site and the RSS feed are down. Can you post a link to the episode here in the forum? That way w...

Well, I wasn't thinking "hell" as much as just horrors from a parallel existing dimension (a la "The Mist") Yeah, you can tell that Doom is a big influence on my thinking about hostile dimensions. I remember getting Doom for my Super Nintendo and thinking that the short in-booklet story was the coo...

My email got bounced. :( This is what it said: Subject: Mr. Tweedy wants to audition I would really like to be part of an audio play production. Problem: The only microphone I own is the one built into my MacBook. But, hey, I can still audition, right? Maybe the mike isn't that bad. Anyway, I'm inte...

Oh, yeah people really act like that. That's why I said The way he convinced himself to be happy about his situation was chilling. That is so like people, who will tell themselves any lie to maintain a sense of normalcy. I'm just saying that's a bad way to be. This is an example of how people should...

Oo! The sun has exploded and the two characters are the only humans who were saved by benevolent (but grossly underfunded) alien scientists. The aliens built them a simulation of Earth to live in, planning to break the bad news gradually, but the old man stumbled upon evidence of the alien's tricker...
