Re: Drabblecast 262 – My True Lovecraft Gave To Me

This episode inspired me to track down and download the past Halloween specials, because I forgot how much I love cryptkeeper Norm's pun-derful intro's. Feel the need to recommend Pumpkinseeds (episode 36) and the Great Old Pumpkin (episode 136) to anyone who has not heard them yet, they are VERY go...

Re: Drabblecast 261 – The People of Sand and Slag

I have a feeling this one will be a big contender for the People's Choice Award this year. Equal parts awesome military scifi and disturbing dystopia.
Spoiler:
Can't believe they ended up eating the dog! So sad.

Great voice acting by the full cast crew. Love this 'ffin podcast.

Re: Drabblecast 259 - The Last of the O-Forms

Wowwww. Norm mentioned on twitter some time ago that he thought the post-Lovecraft Month lineup of stories was maybe the strongest ever... He wasn't joking! I knocked out the last four episodes today and let me tell you, from alien virus mysteries to God forgetting about a handful of astronauts, chi...

Re: Drabblecast 258 - Brown Dust

Truly great writing. Brought me right there into the slums of Rio. Very cool premise and well paced into the mid-story twist. Would love to see more from Ms. Friesner.

Re: Drabblecast 251 - The Music of Erich Zann

Basically the only Lovecraft I'm ever exposed to is on the Drabblecast. I've tried reading a few but I usually just can't stay engaged. It's a different story when Norm's reading the damn thing though. Loved this, and yes, good commentary at the end. But my favorite part? Gotta give a shout out to t...

Re: Favorite Normisms

The Before Sliced Bread riff in this week's intro was truly inspired. "We, the human race, the greatest thing since like, way way before sliced bread. When men cubed their bread, or sold it in frisbee like discs to be tossed back and forth at festivals. Before native americans showed the early ...

Re: Drabblecast 249 – Jimmy’s Roadside Cafe

Like much of life, certainly. Especially the day-to-day grind of wage work. Exactly the kind of thing I don't want to read. But I don't just want to wait for the end in this life--I want to find small enjoyments in everyday life, Like stopping to watch or listen to birds. Loved that reoccurring mot...

Re: Drabblecast 248 - The Cockroach Hat

Well, obviously I'm going to disagree with anyone who also didn't like Mongolian Deathworm. :) This one was cute and had some laugh out loud moments for me. A lenient parody of Kafka's style, literalizing the cliches in our lives (our kids are pests! our parents sometimes want to kill us and vice ve...

Re: Mega-Beast Trading Cards!

Got mine in the mail today. They're awesome! I'm not sure what I was expecting, I guess something less packaged and polished since this is all sorta silly (yet fun, of course).
But no way Jose Canseco, the set is impressively professional. Love em and gonna order some more for friends.

Shinfinnagins Sounds like an Irish shark. Whiskey-fueled strength, skilled at fighting with a bar stool? :) Speaking of harmless but quasi-racist comments, just listened to the Round 1 podcast. Very hilarious, but they sure aren't messing around with that explicit content warning. Had to put headph...

Re: Bsides 11 - Nyarlothotep

I do love Music of Eric Zann, maybe my favorite aside from Mountains of Madness. I tried reading Nyarlothotep a long time ago because it was so short and you always hear him referenced. Just couldn't sink my teeth into it. It's not the first time I've changed my opinion of a story after hearing Drab...

Re: BSides 16 - Winning Streak

I love it when the drabblecast staff have stories on the podcast. Nicky, Nathan and Norm have written some of my favorites so far.
This story was a lot of fun. Pulled you in and kept you there for the whole ride.

Re: Drabblecast 231 - Trifecta XX

Yep, Whit Carlson's Trespasser is one of my favorite Trifecta stories I've heard.

Also, I think if they ever make another Creepshow movie, Bollweevil would be perfect for it, starring a drunk John C. Riley in overalls.

Re: Drabblecast 240 - Trifecta XXI

Wendigo Bake Sale was my favorite too. Hearty White would have been great reading it but Norm certainly did the story justice also. The imagery was great in this story, the frozen roadside slush that Cinnamon mentioned, the blood covered camper cover, the rusty old gas station. I lived in a small to...

Re: MBDM 2012 - Round 1 - Squarrel vs Phantom Ray vs Red Pan

"Almost" invisible doesn't even mean anything! You're either invisible or you're not dammit! Exactly! I was just arguing this point with a co-worker (and so it begins, haha) In my mind, this is really a fight between Squarrel and the Red Panda, and that's down to RP's tech and support. I ...

Re: MBDM 2012 - Overview

Question, will the daily votes per day system be re-implemented using the previous season's website? http://www.mega-beasts.com/ Plan is to stick with the fist'em method employed for the heats. Megabeasts.com is being retooled, but site voting is not being reinstated. The site will share info, dire...
