Greetings! Not my first Drabblecast, but the first one that prodded me to join the forum. That, and I got tired of kissing Steve's butt and poking Russell with a stick, so I thought I'd try kissing Norm's butt and poking Mr. Tweedy with a stick. ;) Welcome! We can always use another person poking M...

it doesn't really fit the usual Drabblecast flavor PoopCast hm... I suppose I should do a count, but I don't think that the DrabbleCast actually resorts to pooping issues very much. Liquifying cats, overlord earthworms, and killer pumpkins, on the other hand... A lesser man may have written ...

Nice story! Keep 'em coming.

I think the poll needs another option:

E: AI, as typically written, will never exist. An analog to the human brain is probably the worst possible use for such technology.

I was also surprised at the listener response to this one on the forums. As I listened to Sizzle I remember thinking that the drabblecast audience is gonna hate this one. But I was pleasantly surprised that the response is positive. Drabblecast listeners are more flexible in their tastes than I had...

I had a mixed reaction to Sizzle. On one hand, I thought it was well-written and I liked the character of the infected hill-billy (not that I'd wanted to meet him, but I thought the character was written, and read, well). On the other hand, the beginning of the story felt so mean . The wife is mean...

Woohoooo! Another Trifecta!

Mustache was just plain awesome. Anybody who has gone through experimentation with facial hair should listen to this. Truly dead-on, too close to home humor!

Re: Juzt Mizundrstood

Your sticks and stones may break my bones And your flamethrowers may burn me But only direct headshots Ultimately concern me Gotta be the best phrase in the song. Norm, you worked in so many bad puns and turns of phrases into that song, you deserve to be shot or praised, I'm not sure which. The son...

Bbardle = Awesome Story = Eh? Guy who my or may not be crazy makes and obsesses over sculptures that may or may not be alive. Guy's friend, concerned for Guy's health, burns sculptures. The end. The end? However, the story is quite fun if taken as non-fiction about the real Norm Sherman and Steve E...

Very cool.

So Norm, are we going to start seeing intros about how your three testicles affected your life, and lives of people around you? How it's driven some people away, and brought some closer? :D

Tom

P.S. I just realized how ironic that your name is Norm. Like, short for Normal.

I guess I'm kinda surprised by all this talk about the zombies. Isn't the tension of this story based upon not being able to ignore a kid's desires? I mean, that's the only way adults survive children, being able to say "no" and/or have some ability to control the undeveloped mind. While the child-l...

Podcasting, like many, many things in life, can be a truly thankless job. I have gotten a lot of enjoyment from EP, and his stories have brought many a smile to my face. But he's gone in one direction, I've gone in another. Easy 'nuff. The more this medium grows, the more chance there is to find com...

Well, since we're now off-topic (anyone feel free to get back ON). I think a big difference between Norm intros and Steve intros is that Norm is the host of the Drabblecast while Steve is Escape Pod's editor . Norm's humor and performance are a huge part of what makes DC DC. We listen to hear Norm ...

Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is a hell of a story comment. Tweedy's right up there with the best of the Steve Eley intro's. I have to joke about Giant Water Bugs to fill time because I'll never come up with insights like that. *Off subject!!!!* Unfortunately, I've gotten really tired of Mr. Eley...

Haaa haa ha! Now that is a Drabblecast! Well written, clever, and kept twisting on me every time I thought I knew what was next.

And the communal reaction is almost as good as the story itself!

Who found/choose this story?

Think of it this way...I'm about average height and build, but every so often I see one of those guys who is pushing 7 ft tall and built like a wrestler and I think 'Hey, what's it like to be wandering around in that tank of a body?'. At only 6'5"... You spend most of your time ducking under doorwa...

New CD?

First off- Congratulations Norm for pronouncing "Steradian" correctly! Not many people can do that. Next business I start will be called "Tom Industries" or somesuch. While it seemed awfully clever at the time to name the company based upon a unit of measure used in optics... But on to the main note...

Story later- Wow Norm, you amaze me. Pulling that song together in under a week? Best line - Build another Burger King, Have it Your Way Too funny! Awesome song. I really like the Bardle. I'm really looking forward to some other people to step up and get some songs of their own! It just keeps coming...

I came away from the story feeling that if I was from the same background as the author, with the same education and upbringing, the story would be profound.

I suspect that I'm one of the pigs, and therefore, being the butt of the story, don't get it.
