Meh...
The drabble was good. Kind of raw /rimshot
The story wasn't all that... Kind of slow. But I didn't like jelly park that much either, and somehow this felt kind of like the same story:
Girl runs away from her crappy life, meets a strange person who takes her to some place exotic, and she ends up in a "wonderful place"
HOWEVER, that last little bit about going to see grandma was so good that I just had to log in and applaud. Good show

I usually hate stories like this, or art/music basically anything too surreal and out there, but this story was awesome! Very engaging and I found myself very happy that Bobbie had taken the stuff and floated out the window with the Designer, even though I had no clue who he was or what exactly it meant.
Am I the only one who would love to hear if there was a subtext or inspiration for this from the author.

Think I have to listen to this again because I kept drifting off in my head. Loved Jelly Park though so want to give this another go.

Hi - I hope you won't mind me mentioning that my first collection of short stories has just been published by Dog Horn Publishing, and I've used Witchcraft in the Harem as the title, and as one of the stories. Babyhead (which appeared first on Drabblecast) is also in the collection.

Good to see people still listen and discuss the older Drabblecast stories! I always felt I wrote this one about ideas of escape and recapture, the Designer representing divinity, and the twins representing two sides of desire and disgust at our own bodies and emotions - the things we never can escape.
In case anyone was wandering what the heck it was all about, in my head, at least...

Your first collection of short stories? Wow.
It's like we were into The Mamas and the Papas when Cass Elliot was still skinny.

Oh great, I post a slightly negative comment about a story and the very next post is the author. Man, where is internet anonymity when you need it?
Glad you posted here Aliya, and congrats on getting your collection published!

Thanks for being gracious about the author spam thing. You're right - Witchcraft and Jelly Park are very different, in a good way, I think.
I often look at my People's Choice Award for Jelly Park (I keep it next to my computer) and feel a little bit cherished. And I still catch myself singing the Jelly song. Impossible to forget. Witchcraft is less accessible, certainly...

I liked the story very much. it's like a bad dream, that ends before it gets nasty. reminded me of Alice in Wonderland and Nabokov's novel Invitation to a Beheading.
