The witness was beautiful, in a way that was almost hard to look at. His face was abstract and fashionable, all eyes and angles, with a luminous innocence too perfect to be entirely sincere...

So, did you put on new underwear yet? There is no feeling quite like killing a website accidentally.

Looks good! I'm looking forward to seeing the new art!

Can't get over the imagery in this story. I want to listen several more times to just look at the pictures.

The teaser art alone has me drooling.

You are pushing your own envelope, Bo.

Thanks guys. Felt a little brazen depicting the 'it' as a woman. I did a couple takes with androgynous second figures, and wasn't happy with any. A waifish female figure seemed best for the delicate and ethereal characterization. If you liked this get set for more awesome stuff, we have a contribution from talented newcomer Johan Lindroos and returning favorite Jerel Dye as the face of our next two episodes. A+ efforts both. And some exciting volunteers already staking claims as a part of the Reclamation project.

I was reading the stories in my podcatcher for Angela to pick one to listen to before bed. I got to this episode and said, "And lastly, 'Pinion' by, um, Stellan Thorn and... oh, uh, I guess it's one of mine." :-D I had no idea. I'd begun to think I'd lost my touch; this is only the second Drabblecast drabble in 2011 for me.

I will listen to this episode later. I was just amused at pleasant surprise. (We hadn't listened to last week's yet, so we did "Creature" as our nightcap.)

What an interesting story! Top marks, all around. I want a text version so I can read more closely.

Great story. Not a classic "fun" DC story, but one of those good ones. What an interesting interaction between a human and a guardian angel. I also feel like the artwork greatly enhanced the episode. Good work!

Scattercat, can you help me on your drabble a little bit? I'm not sure I get it. The guy is trying to make his apartment light enough to fly, so he jumps out of it himself?
Nasty imagery on the carpet pad, BTW. Sent chills down my spine.

I was kinda "meh" on this one. The whole guilt and redemption thing only works with close emotional proximity to the protagonist, which I feel we don't have. Yes, we have his history, but nothing really resonates from that other than a sort of vague depression and that fact that he's feeling his age. I'm not even sure what the angel does for him exactly.

I'm not sure I really grasped everything that happened. So why did the angel steal the goods? And why did it return them? I think I agree with Travelin Corpse Feet that I wasn't as emotionally close to the protagonist as was needed to really get into this.

Oh dear. I didn't get guilt and redemption out of it at all. I must not be sophisticated enough.

And why is a passenger on a motorcycle referred to as a pinion? Is it because it's clipping the wings of the rider by making him less maneuverable?

Pretty much in a nutshell, there. Sort of a dark, schizophrenic version of that scene in Up where Carl decides to go save Russel and Kevin.

Think of your mind as the room, and your ears as the windows.

And there's Lift-Off!

Ha! That's funny when you connect it with the Up reference.

I really liked this story (and the cover art was perfect for it, well done, Bo). I'm a sucker for a well executed angel story, and this was a prime example. The hard boiled noir story juxtaposed eatly in with the imagery of the angel.

Well done everyone involved.

It did have nice imagery. It left me wanting a lot more plot-wise on what was going on. Also, I like fun and creepy more then maudlin (I have Clarkesworld for that.)

Like what kind of eyes glowing in the gloom?

I've been listening for a while, but I had to come and make my first post after hearing this story. I thought it was heart rending and utterly gorgeous. Really enjoyed it.
