Still one of my favorite DC episodes and I think, hands down, the best dialogue piece on Drabblecast. I remember back then wondering if I wanted to submit to this relatively new podcast. I was encouraged by the story I-81, but not 100% convinced, still pondering the narrator’s abilities. Then I heard The One That Got Away. I remember thinking, this Norm whats-his-name can really nail the voices. He’s got skills. I was sold, and sent something in that day.

Peirce also contributed another DC favorite, The Beekeepers. A nice Sci-Fi apocalyptic bug-eyed story. I think maybe he has more on DC, but I can’t recall. But this one still stands out even two years later, and I listen to it from time to time.

I’m not positive, but I think its one of the first times on the podcast that Norm attempted a serious accent.

Pierce did Synesthesia too. A lot of listeners liked that one.

Pierce is building himself a spot in the Drabblecast Hall of Fame.

Oh, geez, I'm an idiot. Synesthesia is my favorite horror story on DC. Heck, I even nominated Synesthesia. How could I forget who wrote it?

That is a pretty diverse mix, Got Away, Beekeepers, and Synesthesia. Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Horror. I think next he should try Romance or Comedy.

Ep 18 is also one of my favorites. And I-81, coincidently.

Yeh, one of the all-time greats - where I could hear and feel my drabble allegiance solidify.

Using this episode as one of the subjects for the ongoing art project.

Maybe they had one of these in their net... ;)

This was a great episode, one of my top ten.

Thanks Norm!

Ah, it's this sort of weird episode that has made Drabblecast the weird behemoth it is today. Especially good dialogue here.

My personal bias towards Aliya Whiteley's work aside, J. Alan Pierce was the absolute highlight of the early 'Casts. This piece in particular works amazingly well as an audio play so it suits the format as well as being most excellent in its own right.

Great story! Great dialogue. Glad to know there are some more stories by this guy coming my way.

I liked this enough that I went and looked at isfdb to see what had become of this guy... but apparently he published a total of 5 stories (three on DC) and disappeared..... anyone know where he went to?

Actually, I'd like to know as well. I'm trying to find birthday presents atm and, having already invested in Frank Key's book this is someone else I'd like to give cash-money to.
