After so many years, there are few surprises left for me sitting on a toilet. Yet it was there where I first discovered an uninvited entity that wanted to call me home...

Still the most unsettling of the DC episodes. I think if Jelly Park had not come along late in 2007, that the Worm Within would have taken the 1st People’s Choice Award.

To me, it still defines the drabblecast. This was the first episode I actively passed around. My unsuspecting niece even thanked me for the CD I burned for her. I got a call later that day from her. The tone of her voice would best be described as, acrid? No hello, no standard pleasantries. Simply "Thanks a LOT!"

Later, after she had forgiven me, she became a fan of the show. Even parades around campus in the DC t-shirt. (She want's to know when the next design will be out.)

In case people have a lingering fear that this story might mirror real events in their own life, use this handy dandy quiz:

I'm at 30%... which isn't good.

W00t! I am better at having worms! My score is 40%!
I'll be there in 5 minutes. If not, read this again.

Uuuuughh. This one was a bit much for me. Even the description of the food he ate made me want to throw up a little (for the love of GOD why are you eating that!!), and got worse as the main part of the story was revealed.

Yuck, parasites. Thankfully I've never actually seen a tapeworm. I have seen pinworms, and those are plenty gross enough, thank you.

So, I recently returned from a camping trip that started and ended with a 6 hour drive. In preparation of passing the time, I had downloaded some of the old archived episodes, of which this was one.

I swear to god... I am not ashamed to say that I laughed so hard listening to this I thought I was going to pee my pants. It was a good thing I was passing through some construction while this one was on as I don't think I would have been safe for driving at real highway speeds. Plus I didn't care that I was stuck in construction... I lurve you, Drabblecast.

ETA: I should mention that I'm a veterinarian, so my ability to be squeamish over stuff like this has been considerably jaded over the years. It takes a lot more than a tapeworm to gross me out (not a challenge btw.) Seriously, my coworkers are going to love this.

It was my first episode, I was a converted EscapePod listener. Steve Ely plugged Drabblecast way back in its infancy, and 25 was the latest episode. I can't thank him enough. How do you not subscribe after that story?

Easy! I'm glad this wasn't my first episode. I'm not much for stories that are pure grossout factor. It's cool that it's in the Drabblecast history but it would not have hooked me for a second episode if it had been my first.

Yes. True fact, according to Mr. Eaton

I have an appropriately gross piece of episode art cooked up (or should I say, under-cooked up). Can't wait to debut it with the rest of the gallery on the new site!

A main character who spends most of the story digging through what he's left in the toilet....................

Worm-infested narrator wrote:"When I go to the bathroom, I usually expect it to be a non-event."
Oh wow. Probably one of the best opening lines to any short story I've ever heard. That's the kind of opening line I DREAM of coming up with.

This episode did NOT disappoint! Intestinal worms, body horror... bring on the helmithiasis and intestinal pain! Listened to it on my run today and had to slow down because I was laughing so hard. This one's definitely a new favorite of mine. So impressed that even in its first year, the DC ramped up so quickly.

I need to go play it for my husband and then suggest steak for dinner.

I'd buy one! And an extra for my tapeworm. :D
