We listen to the spidersong. The spiders are far away, just at the edge of our senses, whispering a haunting and beautiful melody into our minds. The grown-ups are oblivious, as always. They are having several conversations at once around the campfire, laughing and gossiping. It’s a nuisance because we can’t enjoy the spidersong nearly as well, not with all the distraction. We use a reliable trick — we have Sheila ask for a story…

I enjoyed Spidersong (actually I enjoyed all of them, but especially Spidersong), although did anyone else get the impression these kids were simply being farmed rather than sharing a deeper connection with the spiders? Perhaps I'm just anti-spider.

An uneven mix this week.

Fool-
Very poetic, well read, economic concept : What is it in us that finds meaning in implausible parables?

The Desire of Houses-
A writing exercise. Sometimes there's meaning to be found in implausible parables. Other times they make you wonder stupid things like: why are people stoned for bestiality, but the world just shrugs at sex with inanimate objects? Is it sexist that houses only ever lust after women? Is the bath gay?
Is this where Madison Avenue's Sex Sells Soap has gotten us?

Spidersong-
Train a child up in the way he should go, and when he is old he will betray his parents. Michelle Restuchia's sweet little voice set up the chill factor of the ending nicely. Moral of the story: This is why we need charter schools.

Just need to add that I really enjoy the Trifecta concept. Maybe it's because of my short attention span, but they remind me of bedtime stories (my favorite literary genre).
