Today I am going to the island.

I climb the slick wood stairs down to Whitmuth beach. The wind blows fierce through the town like usual and swirls back out to sea, smoky with our coal fires and smacking with hot oil from the fry shops up and down the boardwalk.

This was pretty good! To be honest, I thought the island was just a trap set by the sea creatures to lure people to their deaths.

I really liked this one as well. Surrealist story about the class struggle. It really struck me with its dreamlike imagery.

I saw this story as being about realising what you have now rather than constantly fighting for what others have or do. She is so wrapped up in getting to the island that she neglects the relationship she has - even to the point of suicide. I feel for the poor guy sat at home waiting for her.

I really loved this story. I am not sure I fully understood all of the intricacies but it managed to touch me and stay with me. Iā€™d love to hear from the author what the intentions and metaphors were.
