"Then Duck left Mr. Tomkin's farm and went to swim in Glacier Lake, just like he’d always wanted." Mommy looked up from the last page, but Clara wasn't sleeping.

"And then what did Duck do?" Clara asked.

"That's all there is."

"Duck died?"

Yes, great combination of charming and touching. And in good story-telling form, it was neatly foreshadowed in the first 5 sentences.

This is the sort of story that keeps me listening to DC, you can't find this sort of thing anywhere else. Charming? yes; touching? likewise; weird? most definitely. A funeral for an animate mechanical duck which (or who?) was created so the bedtime stories wouldn't have to end - what is that a metaphor for? (and don't tell me a cigar is just a cigar!). No idea, but I loved it.
Thanks to Norm for continuing to put out these strange stories. I may not always have been a strange listener, but I most certainly am now, and am grateful for it.

When the drabblecast makes me cry at my desk, I know it's been a great episode.

Polecat, you've been a strange listener for years now, you ain't foolin' anyone brother. :)

Also, thank Nathan-- this was another of his great finds.

Caroline's one of my top 3 favorite rising superstar authors as well though (this was her first published story, can you believe it??) and just want to say, if you like Yoachim, and you like Lovecraft, and you like original commissioned fiction, and you like particularly special months not particularly far away, then...

No.

No, I've probably already said too much...
