Drabblecast 387 - Skullpocket: Part 1

Post by ZimmermansWay » Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:55 pm

Feature: Skullpocket: Part 1 by Nathan Ballingrud

• Genre: Horror

Wednesday, October 31st 2018

Yes we're back from the grave! And this old corpse has brought some new stories back from the dead. First up is Nathan Ballingrud's "Skullpocket" told in two parts. Nathan Ballingrund is a Shirley Jackson Award winning author of horror and dark fiction. It's a sinister tale about Mr. Wormcake and one terrible game...
Jonathan Wormcake, the Eminent Corpse of Hob’s Landing, greets me at the door himself. Normally one of his several servants would perform this minor duty, and I can only assume it’s my role as a priest in the Church of the Maggot that affords me this special attention. I certainly don’t believe it has anything to do with our first encounter, fifty years ago this very day. I’d be surprised if he remembers that at all.
Produced: Norm Sherman
Episode Art: Bo Kaier
Photography: Ellis Dunegan
Lettering: Gigi Guiting
Read by: Norm Sherman

Twabble by Eric Marsh:
Lab grown meat put human on the table. It was savory and popular. Free range products soon developed a cultic following.

Really enjoyed this one, parts 1 and 2. A great new beginning. But I do not understand why Norm's co-ghost can only come above ground once a year for the Halloween special. I think there are other holiday specials needing his cold touch. Earth day, The 4th of Ghoul Eye, and National Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day - March 11th

Kevin No-J Anderson, as I live and breath! Author of such favorites of mine as Momentum, The Interview, Pumpkinseeds, The Box-Born Wraith and Horror World 2025. Now I feel like Drabblecast has really returned. Good to see you friend. Hope you're still writing, I know a guy that might be interested in whatever you're sitting on right now...

Perhaps Cryptkeeper Norm can be persuaded from pediatric/culinary distractions for the occasional Columboos or Indoompendance Day episode.
