House (New Houses)

Post by eric_marsh » Sat Jan 23, 2010 6:19 pm

Tina stood before the webcam on her dresser. Turning slowly she presented herself to it's glass eye.

A soft voice spoke from the ceiling. "Tina, " it said, "the blouse you're wearing is almost three months old. Permit me to show you something nicer than that old thing."

"Not now," Tina said. She knew she couldn't afford a new blouse. "I'm late for work. Override!"

House transmitted an incident report to the Department of Economic Development. Tina's spending patterns were analyzed and a termination order was generated.

"Not today dear." House said.

Tina heard clicking as House's doors bolted shut.

That's a pretty brave drabble to pose, what with GoogleAdSense starting to post on the forum threads now.

Thanks - I've had some other things taking up my time but decided that a Saturday morning is a good time to relax and write a drabble.

Google knows exactly what each of us needs, and can determine and fulfill what Google convinces us we want, then pocket the difference. Already Google is developing the biggest project yet. It will automatically order what you are about to want, and put it on the shelf of your Google "AWAREhouse".

Following a generation of AWAREhouse market saturation, a mysterious EM Pulse event will destroy the infrastructure, and only a very few, those who had never forgotten how to hunt and gather, were the only survivors.

If there are archeologists who one day study this great extinction event, they will never guess that it was planned and executed in a conspiracy of the terrorist National Downtown Merchants Association.
