Emergency Rations

Post by peteyfrogboy » Fri Mar 05, 2010 7:50 pm

I've been holed up in the National Guard armory for a week, the doors and windows barred against the zombie horde outside. There's enough ammo and water to last me forever, but my food ran out three days ago. Through the window bars, I watch the mindless corpses staggering by. They look withered and dry, like ambulatory beef jerky.

I always loved beef jerky.

I crack the door and wait for one to find its way through. One headshot later, and dinner is served. It seems the ancient curse that reanimates human flesh also gives it a spicy, smoky flavor.

Haha. Certainly brings a whole "circle of life" aspect into zombie lore. Since zombies tend to represent rampant consumerism, one might say this depicts the anti-materialists as surviving off the consumerists that are mindlessly trying to destroy them.

Of course, sometimes an edible-zombie story is just an edible-zombie story. But it amuses me.
