Picky

Post by bell » Thu Apr 22, 2010 4:04 pm

She was drunk on champagne, and I excelled at pretending. Including sobbing on her shoulder.

“You poor, poor man,” she said. “Such a sad story. So let me get this straight, you can’t have kids with anyone who’s Rh-positive?”

I shook my head. “Gave up trying years ago.”

She laughed. “I’m O-negative. Been donating for years.”

I looked up. “Wanna get married?” I said.

She giggled. “How about a test drive first?”

We went out the back door, the one without mirrors. Never made it to her place, of course. I was hungry; and I am allergic to Rh-positive.

nyuck-nyuck-nyuck.
That's right. A three-nyucker.
Makes me wonder if an asthmatic albino vampire with dentures story wouldn't be cute.

I'll see your 3 nyucks and raise you a Guffaw, Strawman.

A Drabblecast worthy entry if I ever read one. Great dialog and a knock-out punchline that's completely unexpected.

Pick this one up, Norm. I'd love to hear it imbued with your magic.

Glad you like it, guys. I actually thought QED and OY,GEVALT were better, but no one is reading them.

Or somebody could pick it up for a Dribble. I would, but I'm...er...swamped for the next couple of weeks.

Of course it's dribble-worthy, and Norm already said that wouldn't disqualify it from being drabblecast-worthy...

I may just do that... (Where's my microphone...)

Do not assume they are unread. Oy, Gevalt had me wondering more about you than about the story. Where did your yiddish come from? Did that mysterious Modern Art avatar mask a WASP doing a Benny Shekel immitation, or were you actually a mensch.
QED was quite nice, after I came to understood it to be about qualifying to be a parent by raising a well-adjusted dog. Until then there was a slight suggestion that the woman and the dog were... well I won't go there.
Bell, your drabbles are not to be missed. We ask not who you toll for. You toll for us.

Thanks!

Thank you for Dribbling me! And, of course, all the words of praise.

Yes, I come by an accent honestly, though it isn't entirely a Yiddish accent. You see, when I told Norm, for my bio in Episode 157, that I learned English from Star Trek -- I wasn't kidding.

Ah, I love it :D Of course, I see I'm not the only one, and I'm late to the party!
though maybe if there are vampires about, that's a good thing...

Soooo, you're saying that aliens speak Yiddish? I always suspected those conehead Lubovitchers. This explains a lot.

Glad you enjoyed it, I had fun doing it.

Can't beat The Moonlight Sonata for vampire ambiance.

"Children of the night, SHUT UP!!!"

(but I should have taken the time to get a bar noises background ambiance too...)

Glad you liked it. I've gotten quite fond of the whole post-production process.

Would you believe I sold this drabble to Stupefying Stories 2?

for a whole $10, that's 10 cents a word!

How cool is that?
