Lab Rats

Post by Travelin Corpse Feet » Sat Jan 01, 2011 10:58 pm

“When did it learn English?” asked the department chair.
“About 4:30,” the rat answered.
“That’s right,” I said.
“Any other languages?” the chair asked.
“I’m right here you know,” said the rat indignantly.
“Japanese,” I said.
“Y Espanol,” said the rat.
The chair rubbed his chin. “Interesting. Monitor for three days, then cut it open and look at the brain.”
“What? No!” the rat screamed, but the chair’d already left. The rat’s tearful eyes pleaded at me through the hard glass. Too accustomed to those looks, I simply flicked my tail and returned to my miniature workstation on the countertop.

Way awesome! Didn't even see that coming. There's a Niel Gaiman short story about when all the animals disappeared and so they started testing on and eating babies, and then the babies disappeared. it kind of reminds me of that. i think the story is in smoke and mirrors or fragile things. Loved this one man.
If I wrote it you can read it unless you sound like Fran Drescher.

I like this one. Didn't see the twist coming.

I have to admit that I thought the twist would be that the "chair" was actually a chair. Nice to be disappointed, sir.
