A Difficult Age

Post by Rish Outfield » Fri Jan 28, 2011 6:54 am

"Stop calling my daughter the Antichrist!" Richard growls.

"But the way she contorted herself when I said ‘Christmas'..."

"She wants to be a gymnast."

"And she spoke to that alleycat, like it was her minion."

"You're cat-bashing again."

"I think she was speaking Latin, Richard."

"Just babytalk."

"She's six."

"That's a difficult age."

"Her eyes glow red."

"Seasonal allergies."

"She scratched 666 into the sidewalk with her fingernails!"

"She likes maths."

"Look, the joke's not funny anymore. You should leave."

Resigned, I grab my coat. Then Richard's daughter spider-walks down the stairs, her foot-long tongue lolling.

"Gymnast," Richard repeats.

She can't be the Antichrist. She doesn't look even a little foreign, and she hasn't mentioned the United Nations or called for peace and reconciliation once.

Nice Drabble Rich, but I am a bit confused by the father's response. I mean, which parent hasn't wondered...
