Beckoned by My Beverage

Beckoned by My Beverage

Ingredients coalesce in the mixer on the counter.

I hit “frappe”, encouraging the aroma from my brew to snake out onto the breeze.

Moments later I pour the frothy liquid into a chalice as my neighbor Beth’s husband stands on his porch scenting the air like a hungry dog.

His son follows compelled by my potion. Soon all of the men in our cul-de-sac are, shuffling toward my neatly trimmed lawn.

There they stand obediently still, eyes blank and jaws slack.

Soon they shall drink and be eternally mine.

Oh yes my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.

Beer works, too.
