Loss For Words

Post by noctem93 » Fri Jul 01, 2011 7:24 pm

“Ah, thanks” I mumbled awkwardly, eyes glued to the pulsating brain he’d dropped in my shaking hands.

“Don’t mention it, kid” Dominic said lightly, kicking the corpse’s head away from us. He sighed, and his tone darkened. “Think you can do it? It’ll be my turn soon”.

I wrenched my gaze from the brain to stare at Dom. His steely eyes wavered, and I looked away. That’s when I noticed the small bite mark at his throat. It was just a graze, but that was enough to transmit the infection. I was at a loss for words.

“Real soon, kid.”

*** Thanks to Blu and ROU, and thanks especially to the EDIT button. LOL

Awesome. You had me at pulsating brain. I think "Real soon, kid." is a better line to end on, though.

I totally agree. I actually went back and forth on that a couple of times, juxtaposing those last 2 lines. As soon as I posted the story I wished I had kept it the other way.

Heh heh, oh well, hindsight and all that...

Thanks, I plan to. Just had a baby on the 8th, so we've been busy the last week or two. Now that life is "normalizing" (?!?)I'm looking forward to getting back to some writing.
