Barbershop

I was alone in my dusty apartment when the time traveler appeared.

He materialized silently and cast his glance around the room frantically.

"Is this February 11th, 2012?" he asked officially.

"Yes... yes it is." I stammered.

He stiffened. "Then there is no time to waste! The fate of the world… of every world… rests upon your shoulders!"

"What should I do?"

"Never get your hair cut again!"

Having delivered his message, his expression eased and he disappeared without any fuss.

Thoroughly perplexed, I ran my hands through my tangled hair and pondered what to make of the traveler’s baldness.

I'm really stuck for a good title (I came up with that one at the last second). Any suggestions?

Oo! I like it.

This is great use of deliberate ambiguity (as opposed to those times when it just seems like the author forgot to put something in).

That was fun!

Way fun. I can't decide whether to stop cutting my hair or shave my head. Is bald the cool future or will I need those lovely locks? "Coiffuture Conundrum."

At first I was going to correct you, since the word is "coiffure". But then I realized that you'd combined "coiffure" and "future"! I feel silly now for not seeing it earlier... Nonetheless, that's completely awesome! Can I use that as a title? No one will know what a "coiffure" is, so they'd have to look it up later to get the joke. I'd probably hyphenate it to be "coif-future", so people stand a chance of seeing it (after they read the story, of course).

Neat drabble. As a bald freak myself, I would agree with the time traveller and would suggest to all your hairy folk that you let your locks grow. Enjoy it.
