The Swap Last Fall

Post by loyaleagle » Wed May 16, 2012 6:45 am

Do you remember that huge storm we had here last fall? Most people were huddled up in their homes, but Phil and I were drunk and wading about in the town fountain like idiots. Some kind of man vs. nature crap, I guess. I don't think either of us saw the lightning bolt strike, but I still remember how it crackled between my fingertips. When I woke up, I was in Phil's body and I think Phil was in mine. He was also dead. I've never told anyone about this before, not even my wife -- certainly not Phil's wife.

***************************************************************************

Not sure that this one EXACTLY falls into any of the "call for Drabbles" topics, but it does kind of kiss a few of them. This idea has been floating about in my head for half a year and I'm glad it finally found its way into text.

Also, a question for regulars on this forum...does a Drabble have to live here exclusively until it is chosen for reading on the show, or can it be posted elsewhere? Not sure exactly what is entailed in the "Drabble Public Domain" concept.

The Drabblecast is like Phil's wife, except you can tell her.
Does that help?

If you publish something on the web and call it "Public Domain" you have given rights to anyone, (The Drabblecast, The New York Daily Post, Cosmopolitan, etc...) to use it without compensation in any manner they wish.

Of those three, The Drabblecast will ask first, though. :-)

Funny that...they did ;-)

Hmmm, if there were more markets out there for drabbles, I might be more finicky...but I think any drabbles I write will probably be for exclusive use of The Drabblecast, so it doesn't matter too much.

That said, I could probably append a CC license for anyone who hasn't expressedly asked about it.

Well over two hundred submissions and I've appeared twice.

That puts me at 1 percent and you at 100 percent...

Now, aren't we all high and mighty... ;-)

Oh I'm not 100 percent, for sure! I will say I kind of "cheat," as about half of my submissions are inspired from Norm's drabble topic list, so they're already kind of matched up with the main fic. And I got lucky once because I wrote a rather sensual one...not realizing Valentine's day was JUST about to happen.

That said, you should see my duotrope account...SOOOO many rejections :-/

Is there a new theme-guidelines for upcoming drabbles out?
