Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na

Post by Scattercat » Thu Dec 13, 2012 8:08 am

“The criminals haunt this city like ghosts,” the Commissioner said. “We’re trapped in this maze, and we just run around and around and never get anywhere.”

“But sir! Do we really need to call... him?” The young constable swallowed heavily. “He’s... outside the law. They say he can’t die. They say... they say he eats...”

“Silence!” The Commissioner snapped. “This ends tonight. I won’t follow the dotted lines any longer. That will be his job now.”

He switched the light on, sending the golden disc up onto the clouds. The yellow circle with one sixth missing, like an open mouth...

Looks like video games are trending in here.

Excellent. I admit it took me a second, though.

It's difficult to write in enough that most people will "get it" while leaving it opaque enough that most people still have to "get it," since in stories like this the fun is all in "getting" the reference.

Every time I escape from the illusion of reality and return to the eldritch (yet cozy) horror that is this forum, I am greeted with freshly vivisected gobbets of fun. Thanks, Scattercat.

Na Na Na...

"That is a lot of Sodium" said the Chemistry Guy!
Na is Natrium in Latin that is why!

Atomic Number 11 and Atomic Weight 23
It is a highly reactive alkali for you and me.

It can explode in water when it is metallic pure
So be careful and in Kerosene do keep Sodium secure.

Chemistry Guy does not lie when he said it can make lye.
Lye is Sodium Hydroxide useful in making soap.

Saponification is a process with economic hope
can be industrial or backyard scale
as long as the Stoichiometric calculations do not fail.

enough to be in a Category of One."

"It's time to shake up staid traditions
in favor of strange experimentation."

Alright, Secretnude, my friend. I think it's great to go through the Drabbles archive, read, and even comment on the old threads. But I would like you to stick with commenting on the stories instead of hijacking threads with your own poems. If you want to write reaction poems, just post 'em on your thread with a link to the piece that it's referencing. Otherwise the forum's getting snowed under with bumped threads that have no relevant new comments attached.

Much appreciated!

On the other hand, apparently other people don't read through the backlog much, so the stories are getting exposure...

Excellent!! Took me until the very, very last sentence to have any idea ... and then i heard the strange bells, the lights in my apartment began flashing, and i suddenly felt INVINCIBLE!

Thanks for the nostalgic drabble!
