Lapsarian

Post by basilgodevenos » Fri Dec 14, 2012 5:09 pm

Can you feel that? That's your heart, pumping at double its normal rate. It's trying to tell you that you're about to die. But don't listen to it. Try to focus on the sensation of air accelerating past your face. Blink the tears from your eyes, and count the floors of the skyscraper as they rush by.

It's important you remain calm.

Have your ears popped yet? It's ok, that's normal. Look down. Remember to breathe. You can see the ground, rushing up to meet you. It's coming at you faster and faster, getting bigger and bigger.

Now dodge it.

This reminds me of when Arthur Dent learned to fly in the HHG series.

Such a pity that Adams' didn't miss on that last attempt.

:-( So true. And only one month after a full physical.

Shouldn't "yer time" be the original delivery date rather than the "Not recommended for use after..." date?

Thanks! HHG was certainly the inspiration for the twist at the end. My original idea was just to write a 100-word description about falling, but as soon as I started doing that, I knew it would need something more.

"Steal from the best" yaddah, yaddah. (Except they tend to have top-notch security.)

Good drabble. Loved the detached absurdity of the narration and the last sentence snapped it all into place nicely.

Sort of high-strung. I like it.

Thanks! I love the Drabblecast and got sucked in I guess. It gave me some great inspiration on how to get rid of my grandmother...
