Arthur's Wife

Post by Chivalrybean » Sat May 16, 2009 7:56 am

Arthur's wife, Yvon, had the zombie infection. The greening skin made it impossible to hide, but it could be slowed. They abstained from physical contact. The scientists working on the cure didn't know why, but this slowed the spread of the infection in the body. Even a small touch accelerated it by days. Arthur watched his wife slowly emaciate and wither and he could not give her the comfort of his arms. She would not attack him, she would just diminish in body, then in mind. When Arthur became infected, it didn't matter anymore. They made love one last time.

That is the most poignant zombie drabble that I have ever read, I like it a lot. I think that zombie sex is better than squid sex.

Just remember all you who would judge: You can't legislate morality.
Never judge anyone until you have biopsied their brain.

In the literary sense I hasten to add...

I like this. Bittersweet. They must die, but their love endures until the end.

I don't understand why it's a "zombi infection", though, since the infected don't turn into shambling people-eaters. It would seemed better if you just called it "the plague."

I'm surprised at this foolish zombie vs. squid debate. Have you all forgotten Squid Vicious?

Surely Squid Vicious was a fighter not a lover?

I guess that depends how you define a zombie.

"Zombie" has its own visual imagery built in, where "plaque" does not, so I'd have had to explain more to get the detail I wanted. In this case I only had to explain the things there were different than a more 'standard' zombie infection.

To him, they were one and the same.
