Crazy Eights: A True Story

Post by ROU Killing Time » Fri May 29, 2009 8:15 am

On 8/8/80 I first kissed the mother of my three sons. We celebrated our 8th anniversary of this event on 8/8/88. The number eight is a continuity in my life.

The one that really got me was reading Katherine Neville's novel "The Eight" published in 1988.

The first story thread begins with a sequence of dates of events preceding the French Revolution that ends on February 16th.

Midway through the novel in the thread that occurrs in modern times there's a sequence of years given of financial events that ends with the year 1963.

My birthday is 2/16/1963, so I guess that makes me 1/8th.

With that many '8's, you realise that if you ever go to China you'll probably turn into the biggest good luck dragon ever.

I would probably be welcome to sit at a blackjack table with Chinese players so it could rub off, but I've noticed that I can't leverage the 8 skewing into greater luck at roulette.

On more number oddness, I used to play the following numbers for the lottery

2 (my month of birth)
3 (my first wifes month of birth)
__ (fill in the one number I didn't play here
16 (the day of the month of my birth)
23 (the day of the month of my first wifes birth)
42 (cause I'm a big Douglas Adams fan, but who isn't...)

****
Which number is missing???
